I drive from rayne-ish to lake charles every day. almost 2 hours total.
Price of living is a bitch unless you're willing to live in the sticks and commute. I got a beater commuter car that gets me where I need to go and the wife drives the nice vehicle/plus we use it for chores on the weekend.

Seeing how many people itt drive an hour or more to and from work is eye opening. I couldn't spend 2+hours in my vehicle every day.
I followed a guy i work with home one day to look at a truck he was selling and he lives 45 minutes south of the shop and I realized that day there was absolutely zero chance that I would ever drive that far for work.
I work IT, got a job in the public sector, and realized that no private company even comes close in our state regarding pay and benefits (unless you're csuite or above).
Going get my MBA and probably will return to the private sector after that. But the nearly 50% bump in pay justifies the 120 miles I drive a day round trip.

A slow painful walk from my bed about 50ft to the coffee pot and a slightly better with coffee stroll down a flight a stairs and to my desk about the same distance as to the coffee pot.
Thank you Covid.

As long as it takes me to walk downstairs to my office

About 20 minutes in traffic now.
I’ve done 40 minutes before. But 25-30 minutes of that was country road, and easily the best part of my day.
