One of my friends is getting a divorce after 15 years. He was the one who filed.
About 50% make it to year 20 in the U.S..

My husband went home & told his mom after our first date (we were 15/16) that he could see himself marrying me. She laughed at him.
This sounds pretty similar to our situation. He says he knew almost immediately at age 16.
I knew he was different from the outset, and even though we broke up two or three times over the years, I always wanted him around and we always stayed friends. (Much to the chagrin of whomever else we dated.)
Married 32 years now. His mom finally decided I was right for him about 20 years in.

30 minutes for me, we dated several years. I knew it immediately

I’m pretty sure my wife is still on the fence, understandably of course.
And we have three knuckleheads.

Within a month or two.
Still remember the day I told my parents I was going to marry her.
Been together 20 years.

About 1 year. Women can hide crazy for a while but you’ll know within a year.

Met my wife at a party in college… that night I told some of my friends I was going to marry that girl.. .…I was a married student.. still married 47 years later..
My father met my mother at a mutual friends party while he was on leave in the Air Force.. proposed to her in a letter.. she said yes..she got on a plane and left New York City to fly to Waco .. nun had to be a witness.. married until they both died a few months apart while in their 80s..

6 months seems a little long if you’re talking about people in there early/mid 20s. I knew after our first date that I could see myself marrying her - wasn’t a huge believer in the “you’ll know when you’ve met the right person” until that moment.

we were engaged 3 weeks after we met, got married a year later, 43 years ago

for a person to decide if the person they are dating is marriage material.
Folks don’t realize that at the time this decision is being made things are the absolute best they’ll ever be.
All down hill from this point. Enjoy it while you can and don’t be afraid to punt.

4745 days. I met my eventual bride when she moved into an apartment next door. We shared a wall in the apartment and I could hear everything that happened in her place. We never dated. Just hung out at Fred's and other establishments where I would kick her arse at pool. Once she left for law school I did make the trek to NO. Even then we were just frick buddies. As we aged we eventually realized our connection was not going away.

My sophomore year in college I walked into the cafeteria and saw a girl I’d grown up with and worked my high school years for her father. She was a freshman and she introduced me to her roommate.
I honestly looked at her roommate and thought to myself I would one day marry her. Had our first date that week and have not looked back for 54 years.

Got engaged within 6 months and married 7 months after that. We had been good friends for two years prior to dating. Will be married 16 years next month. I highly recommend the friends first thing.

She got me in trouble with the Prof in French class by copping my translation of a passage from Baudelaire or some such leaving me hanging on the subsequent passage I was a little shaky on.
He ranted on and on in high gay dudgeon trying to embarrass me with my ineptitude and lack of idiomatic fluency.
I threatened her with violence if she ever did shite like that again and then asked her to coffee at the Union.
I knew before the third cup. Nearly fifty years ago.
