Graduated with shaq dec 2000. Declined a job offer in Memphis because my then girlfriend didnt think long distance relationship was gonna work. Other job offers dried up. Sold some possessions and ate Ramen for 3 months before I got a “real job”. Been married to her for 23+ years so the gamble was worth it!

Got my offer in February the spring semester that I graduated and worked for the same company ever since.

2000, electrical engineer, 11 offers prior to graduation.
That's the way it was when I graduated in 1980-something. Graduated on Wednesday, started work the following Monday, quit interviewing after 14 offers in the prior quarter.
Things have changed though. Most of my daughter's engineering classmates did not have a job waiting when they graduated two years ago - well-regarded public university with a large college of engineering. She had a very solid resume that included a performance award from her internship.
The reason is the application process. Few if any companies do more than make a cursory job fair appearance on campus any more. Online job postings get thousands of applications, which HR departments cull ruthlessly with automated ATS systems that really shortchange the applicants. Kids who don't have a standing offer from an internship or by knowing someone have to submit dozens to hundreds of applications before they get through ATS for an interview, with each application taking an hour to do right, some more than that.

I worked part time for the company my last 2 years in college so went to work full time after. Probably stayed a couple of years to long but it all worked out.

Graduated Memorial Day weekend and first day of real job was Nov 4 of that same year

Got the first engineering job I applied for after university, and had a job with a firm at the conclusion of law school.

I got a "real" job about 5 weeks after graduating but I didn't have a job befitting my education for about 15 years.

No time, I had a few offers while in college and took the best one.
To be honest, it was about 5 years before I was worth what they paid me. And they expected that. But it did pay off for them in the long run, many times over. And it paid off for me in a life in South Louisiana which were the best years of my life (so far).

Graduated Friday, interviewed Monday, started work Wednesday.
