SO got sick on a work trip and asked to be reimbursed like $10 for meds and airborne. She and her boss got into it because he believes she would've been sick anyway and should've been prepared.

No, sir, you sent her into the field, she got sick doing her job, you can reimburse her the goddamn $10 for her fricking meds.

When she travels with her colleagues, her expense reports are well under the amount compared to theirs. If only he knew how much money she truly saves her company.

I don’t believe your wife has the capability of saving her company a bunch of money if she’s willing to risk her job for $10

Pretty much every one on the planet where a sales team entertains customers. My dad's company is in oil field communications. He said the reps for some of their major clients will be 5 margaritas deep at lunch on a Monday.

My brother is on the opposite end of the spectrum. He's the VP of purchasing for a food distributor, He is constantly having salesman drop big money on him . Now that I"m retired he'll randomly call me "hey man my _____ rep is taking me to play golf today wanna join?" and we'll meet up at some fancy club on a Monday afternoon play 18 holes, get a new golf polo or something and then have drinks and lunch on the buyer. Or I'll go babysit my dad's business while HE goes and joins my brother or sometimes we'll both go.

It's honestly kinda crazy how much gets spent entertaining people like my brother.

I use the company credit card for only three things - flight, hotel, cabs. Everything else goes on my personal card then I'll seek reimbursement. Our expense system (Concur) is a pain in the arse for anything outside of those three categories.

Fortune 500 company here.

We use concur. We only need to submit receipts above $75 for food and all others. I submit all of them regardless.

I will also (in writing via email) discuss things out of the norm with my boss.

We pretty regularly run up big bar tabs on our vendors. It's quite common in most industries

I do the expense reports for my bosses. If they use the corporate card for something personal, we just mark it personal and it doesn't get reimbursed. But, our employees are responsible for their charges and then getting reimbursed from company.

of course, our company doesn't pay the credit card company. They pay us and it's on us to pay the credit card folks.

Entertainment. My old boss would expense his mini-bar and PPV movies in the hotel. They always paid.

As long as the restaurant receipt isn't itemized, and rarely is, then how are they going to know you ran up a bar tab instead of having a steak dinner?

When I worked for a not for profit and it was scrutinized to the penny. In consulting it is much less scrutinized given the client facing nature.

What restaurants rarely itemize a receipt? Almost all of the ones I go to provide an itemized receipt at the end of the meal.

Mine. Construction related. I've had $6000 in one month before. No one batted an eye. If everything is legit and documented, they'll let it fly.

The only time mine ever gets questioned is when it's over 6k or so a month. The owner will ask me what I charged and I will tell him. Other than that no one knows what is on my card and I don't document anything. I have an AMEX with no limit and pay it off out of the company checking account.

Don't do sketchy shite on the company card and it won't be a problem.

Why are they getting reimbursed for something charged to a corporate card? Are they paying the bill for the corporate credit card?
