I've been harassing our Governor here about it.
I'm like dude, Mississippi got it done quickly, and they are one of the least forward thinking states there are. They are broke arse for many reasons, and forward thinking isn't one of them, and they passed it.
He tweeted back and said it is being worked on. I haven't heard a peep about it.

Alcohol laws. I was in Northern Mississippi a few months ago. Had to go to the grocery store for beer and the liquor store for wine or liquor (no beer). It was pretty annoying and a stupid law. That's all I've got

JBE is holding sports gambling hostage unless his family in tangi gets to have a riverboat casino license. The legislature refused to give him the latter, so he made sure his allies prevented the former.

Yep,
Here in Missouri, once you leave KC and Stl, it's total bible belt. They get out and vote everything fricking thing down.
Everything is the damn devil

One of the most soul crushing moments from my time stuck in MS was the first time I ran to get some beer and whiskey for the Saints game only to have the horrifying realization standing in front of a locked store that the door was locked because those rednecks truly believe that God called up and said it is naughty for me to be able to buy beer or whiskey from a store on Sunday. He's perfectly fine with you doing it at a bar, though.
This was pre-Katrina, pre-Brees, pre-Payton, pre-Superbowl. Do you have any idea what watching a Saints game SOBER was like then?!
>>SHUDDER<<
THAT state is ahead of us on this.

It’ll happen once they all realize how much big Texas money they’re missing out on.
Give it a year. They’ll make it happen. We’re a little slower and behind but we still love it.

I don't see the big deal. If you want to gamble away all your family's money you can go to Mississippi. If you want to smoke weed and become a burden to society you can go to Colorado. If you want to marry a gay man you can go to California.

That's why the good beer and whiskey drinking, bet placing citizens of their district need to rise up and tell the AARP and bible crowd that we're not gonna take it anymore!

Because the politicians haven't figured out yet exactly how they're going to line their pockets.

Drove by 6 casinos on the first week of college football to spend the weekend in Mississippi betting on sports. Other than expensive beers in the Beau Rivage sports book area, the entire set up was awesome. Louisiana is missing out on a lot of money because folks are passing the state by to get to Mississippi. That sports book bar area was full all weekend.

I doubt that's true in some cases. I bet the people on the north shore wouldn't have a problem with sports betting, but their guy voted against it.
Start showing these folks how much tax dollars we are losing to MS over this and some minds are going to be changed.

Why in the world would you drive to Mississippi to gamble on sports? You can practically throw a rock randomly and hit a bookie in La.
