How is AI affecting message boards?

On one hand I can see the use of AI reducing traffic, on the other perhaps adding enough to minimize the losses.
I pose questions to AI that would have gone to a message board a year ago.

Not much, people in general are still going to prefer the opinions of real people. I use AI like a search engine, ex: "tell me 2022 draft picks for New Orleans Saints" shite like that.

I think it might somewhat affect specific boards like Money or Tech, but the reality is that any question AI can even come close to accurately answering probably wouldn't have made a good general forum thread to begin with. No one wanted to be anyone's personal Google to begin with

People use AI for different things than they come to a message board for.
Its like asking if people will go to Wal-Mart less if a strip club opens across town.

AI created a weekly workout schedule for me based on the Wendler 531 weightlifting protocol combined with rowing, optimized so that neither interferes with the gains of the other. I gave it my goals and it did the rest. Six months ago it couldn't have done that. What it may be able to do six months from now is a little frightening.
