Fwiw as a comedian I don’t ever remember laughing during one of his stand ups. But clearly some find him funny
Don’t care for his comedy at all but love the podcast.
He’s got to be reasonably intelligent to pull off what’s he’s pulled off.
He also seems to ask fairly intelligent questions to his guests and lets them answer.

Intelligent enough to know what he doesn’t know, inviting subject matter experts on his show to challenge the mainstream narratives that’s are pushed by the media.
I don’t think that he would claim to be highly intelligent, but I find his show to be both informative and entertaining.

I get the impression that when he has a scientist on his show, he really prepares well and actually reads their work. I mean really reads it not just the press clippings. Now he may not understand it all, but he understands enough to ask good questions.

About the only thing I can say I don't like about him is that he will normally take a stance on something depending on who he's talking to on the show.
It may just be me; but it seems he is kind of like that.

Yeah cuz he’s high off his arse

How intelligent do you consider Joe Rogan to be
I find almost nothing he himself says on the shows to be compelling. I can only listen if it's a guest I want to hear from. Joe is just a conduit.
I can think of very few true insights he's ever presented.

Not as smart as he thinks he is.
Posted on 11/7/23 at 10:31 pm to DeltaTigerDelta
He probably pretty smart.
He has been somewhere between moderately and extremely successful at multiple different “disciplines” in entertainment.
He’s a decent comic, much bigger than most
He’s a featured commentator on the biggest mma fights on the planet
He’s arguably the most successful podcast creator/host ever.
I think it’s safe to say he’s probably pretty smart.

I think he’s naturally curious and open minded with some common sense. He’s deadass wrong on plenty, but that’s fine.
I’ll take that over educated, arrogant, and condescending.
Where this was most highlighted to me was when he had a doctor on during Covid and the doctor was a fat slob pushing vaccines and Joe didn’t say NO to that but also advocated for eating healthy, getting outside, and exercising.
Fat slob admitted to just eating junk food and dismissed being in better shape as a good precaution

He seems to be a “ knows a little about a whole lot of stuff” rather than a “knows a lot about just a little bit of stuff”. This makes him good at interviewing a wide range of individuals. He’ll know just enough about their expertise to communicate and know what questions to ask.

his money and friendships put him in the room and next to smart important people that is all

He has accumulated a lot of knowledge though because he has had a wide range of guests with many different backgrounds to cover many different topics
Rogan chooses his guests based on subject matter that he has great interest in. He reads up and reinforces his knowledge of the topics prior to interviewing his guests, which provides a platform to navigate during his podcast. He’s excellent at what he does, but he’s no genius by any stretch.

He's very intelligent. Probably in the 130's. He's got retention of memory like few his age. Trust me, I'm his age.

I’m with you on this. I don’t find his standup that funny.
I am however, amazed at his breadth of knowledge.
Best interviewer(so far) of the 21st century IMHO.
Ironically, he seems to consider himself a comedian from the roots up. It’s like the whole podcast thing is a hobby to him, despite the fact he’s quantifiably the best in the world at it.

He’s a good listener, has a solid memory, is very thoughtful/contemplative, very observant, inherently skeptical, and has a good grasp of his own intellectual limitations. All indicators of above average intelligence.

But having listened to him now for years, I have to say it’s pretty damn impressive the breadth of topics he can carry on long form discussions about. He seems pretty well read as well
I think the key here is that his guests are only people that genuinely interest him. His show isn’t based on booking guests just because they are a hot topic or currently trending.

Stand up comics are known for pretty high IQs. You have to be pretty clever to write material others find funny and think quickly on your feet when you're bombing. That said, I think Rogan's stand-up is pretty bad and not original at all.
I'd say he's around 115 IQ which is the average of state college undergrads. I think his ADHD makes him appear dumber sometimes than he is.
Average IQ people are highly unlikely to be smart enough to earn $200 million contracts. IQ and wealth are highly correlated (many studies done on this).

Overall, not very intelligent.
He’s knowledgeable about certain topics and likable, but I don’t think he’s the sharpest knife in the drawer.

You got 8 downvotes for that comment. That’s 8 really stupid people.
