Why? They can't appreciate what they are seeing in a foreign country (except for a beach) at age 6-7. No offense, but that's a pretty dumb idea.

The same people that go to Disney also do Destin, Gatlinburg, and various Mexican resort towns. I guess it's cool but there's no ingenuity

I feel like Disney is the place to go back to when you're completely ok with never seeing the rest of the US/world. I can think of 20 other places I would rather bring my family to.

So my idea is dumb.....but taking your kid to the same theme park every single year and no place else isn't?

My daughter will be doing the same thing. My wife's sister lives in Berlin and has family north of Edinburgh in Scotland. Are we really comparing Disney and those places?

Unless you're talking about lame "exotic" beach vacations.

"Hey little Timmy, come here and check out these gas chambers. Better look now, we can never vacation near Auschwitz again"

I agree, wait until they're at least 10-12. I was taken on international vacations when I was younger and looking back didn't appreciate them/don't really remember.

I'm not talking about historic tours through Europe
Think of places that have amazing wildlife and outdoorsy stuff to do (ex: Costa Rica). And I'm talking about when they are at least like 5.....not a baby/toddler.

That is my go to. I like Tn because they are the most accesible mountains and it's a cheap vacation.
Destin is easily the closest nice beach.
Mexican resorts are great for getting away from it all.
I also like places like central Penn, Northern New York, Colorado and of course visiting big cities.
I also do a three day weekend every year of a close southern city (doing Vicksburg this year).
I see people knock Disney, G-berg and Destin. A lot of these people may take one trip a year if that, then want to judge were people go.

I go/have been to Disney a lot, yes...but I've also been to multiple states, all over the Caribbean, England, Paris, and Italy.
My parents waited until I was 12 and my sister was 15 to bring us to England...that was followed by Paris when I was 20 and Italy when I was 24.
I was being a bit harsh by saying it's dumb...but just think about it...do you really want to pay all of that money to fly your 6 year old across the ocean to look at a bunch of old buildings that he/she will have 0 appreciation for? If my parents had flown me to Europe at that age - and knowing what I know now - I'd be pissed looking back: "Yeah, I went to England when I was 6...it was cool I guess, don't remember much because I had no idea what I was looking at".
ETA: Saw your other response - that I agree with. Bring them somewhere like Costa Rica or Mexico resort towns. Anything with a historical aspect, save for later.

I say who cares if the kid remembers it, at least you'll have a good time. You can always take them again when they're older

The idea is great the execution is not. Take it from a guy whose dad was in the military and stationed in Germany and Korea. We essentially visited every popular European and Asian country before I was 7. I remember jack shite. Wait until they are older.

Of course they will get to go to Disney at least once.....but I'd rather them experience real foreign countries than a manufactured one.
When are you due? You may want to raise those ages. Traveling internationally with kids under 6-7; unless your military and have to travel, is a huge pain in the butt and whine fest from hell. Even older-I myself recall not appreciating Europe in my teens like I would now.
I just watched a history special just on NOLA alone. I am shocked at the history in the city and oldest Church, WWII museum, AJ museum tour in Chalmette I lived by for many years and never went to.

I've been to Disney world twice in my life. Once as a 10 year old kid, and once as an adult. I didn't care for it either time. The rides at universal studios are much more fun and exciting. The target market for Disney world seems to be 4-12 year old little girls that like princesses. I don't understand how anyone else could absolutely love the place. Not that they couldn't enjoy it, its just that I don't understand so many peoples' obsession. That being said, even if you absolutely love Disney world, you should still see the rest of the world and not dedicate every vacation to the same place.

Ok 10 then
Point is I refuse to be a mouth breather that goes to Disney every year.

I've been 8 times and every time was better than the one before it. Haven't been since 2007, though. We also went to Destin every year, Arkansas a couple of times, Tennessee twice. That's all I can remember right now.

All these folks talking about taking their kids overseas to see shite. Lol. Young kids have a 2 min attention span take them to your local zoo, aquarium, etc. Trust me I have been to Europe 3 times and I would not waste the money. I have had annual passes to Disney world 3 different times the kids enjoy the magic kingdom and as they get older take them over to Hollywood studios. All theme parks get old after awhile so just change it up. Stress stress with young kids at Disney if you have more than one kid. Long lines, hot, crowds, expensive. Definitely let them experience it a couple times but every year NO.
