See Buccees as another example of how to do it.

I know Costco pays more than their competitors

Leadership actually values service over profit

Dont hire culture. That will help.
Chick fil a has it all figured out. Go try a Popeyes- no one cares.

Popeyes customer service is much better than it was 5+ years ago

will be put to the test in my community. new CFA just broke ground last week. lots of competition for bottom of the barrel employees. we'll see. I think everyone's wondering the same thing. There's not a current fast food employee around that would make the cut in the nearest CFA.

The Alphabet people have started an organized mission to denigrate CFA's service ratings. They give it all bad ratings and recruit their fellow degens to vote it down.

Costco in Baton Rouge truly is one of the worst shopping experiences in the universe. You get yelled at on where to line up to check out, get yelled at about taking things out the buggy or leaving things in the buggy (every cashier wants something different), you get yelled at about "2 lines" when you're exiting, then sometimes you get yelled at because the cashier forgot to ring something up so you're forced to weave your way back into the store to check out the one item that they fricked up on.

Building a positive work culture and providing good customer service isn't the same as deciphering Tax Code. But it's tough to find young people that are hard working and courteous.

Because they refuse to hire trash like this

I know a couple folks that works at our Costco here in Louisville. They have good pay for folks without a college degree. Decent benefits. And management doesn’t treat their employees like shite.

Chick Fil A isn't what it used to be with customer service. Their managers are universally top notch, but the rest of the staff is not so much.
10-15 years ago, it seemed like a lot of helpful, eager, high school and college kids. Now, it has turned into what the other fast food places do - hire the 20s/30/s, older workers who hop from FF joint to FF joint as their "career".

Costco employees here are awful.
Where do you live?
Best employees for customer service here are at Raising Canes and CFA.

Same locally.
Terrible customer service, surly employees and the grocery stores that hire Filipinos for less are far better experiences.

If you want top of the line employees, you should pay top of the line wages and benefits. Costco and Chik fil a have figured that out.
Chik-fil-a has figured out having an abundance of staff working also moves things along. Most places try and have labor as bare bones as possible. You get surly workers and longer waits that way but it costs ya less.
