re: How good are you at driving interstates in big cities?

I grew up in a city so it's easy for me. You just have to be assertive and telegraph your movements.
What stresses me out are passive drivers. The types that you know need to change lanes and they are not doing it and then they start the second you get close, but they go back to their lane creating an awkward situation for everyone around them. Just commit and go.

I lived in Chicago for 3 years and go to Dallas several times a year. I've driven multiple times in Houston, Atlanta, and Denver. Spent a week driving around LA and once drove the entire East Coast to Boston. I fear no interstate. I however hate driving to the Emerald Coast in the summer. The absolute worst drivers in the country all gathered in slow crawl or lane swapping Talladega free for all shite fest.

Stay off of 610 and 59, those are where the third world tends to congregate. Just pretend you have a turret gunner, and GTFO the passing lane, grandpa.
If you think Houston is bad, I dare you to drive across Dallas.

Worked in N Dallas for 3 years and hated the 635 loop. Several times I’m doing 75 - 80 along with everyone else and keeping my eye on the mirror to look for an opening to change lanes in preparation for an upcoming exit and look back up and all of traffic is slowing down to 30 right in front of me. Have to jam on the brakes.
I finally just started avoiding it and paying the toll to drive the George Bush expressway where there isn’t so many fricking lanes.

Hard adjusting from swamp wilderness?

I used to be very good at it. I turned 60 this year and it pains me to admit, but I can’t process as fast as I used to. I’m still ok at it, but I have to be at my best.

I fight for my life driving across DFW from west to east every day. It's a damn battle.

The most LADOTD thing ever is throwing this incredibly flawed interchange out there and then ignoring it completely for 70 years.

I use a newer Garmin GPS for travelling on vacation and to unfamiliar destinations. It is awesome. It will show you what lane to get in prior to reaching an exit, split, turn off, etc. If you miss a turn, it quickly re-routes you so you can get back on track. I always use a GPS when traveling out of state.

I survived Boston in rush hour leaving the airport. No accidents. So, better than I thought I was.

That's because here, driving on the Interstate is a 15-30 MPH crawl at all times of the day except midnight.
Even midnight is a chore because they'll close 6 out of 8 lanes for resurfacing.

Man, I don’t like driving in downtown Marksville(4 lanes) much less Houston (8 lanes one direction), lol…

Funny I raised two kids in Houston where they learned to drive. When they go to smaller cities they get perturbed that people drive too slowly. They are used to fast, aggressive drivers.

Convention exits left when going north. I think Florida might too?
There's at least 4 I can think of and I think it's 5 right around there

Better in cities I know. In cities I haven't been to, you never know what is around the corner so it can make it a little more anxious of a drive.
