Absolutely not enough info. How much do they bring in, and what, specifically do they spend it on? If they eat restaurant food 4 nights a week, drive a car they cannot afford, get the newest cell phone with a high-priced plan, then they are living higher than they can afford.
Also, being obese is not cheap, getting there, or the medical bills.

Agreed, too many good teachers become bad because they have no incentive to stay good. You get the same pay check as someone who clearly sucks but puts in half the effort you do

For working 2/3's of the year, no weekends, every holiday off, Mon-Fri favorable day shifts teachers make out better than most. They also never will have to pay for daycare because of their favorable schedule. Oh, and the lifetime government benefits.
Teachers are crying wolf, they know they can't get a better gig.

I have summer vacations off, 3 weeks off during christmas, a nice pension, cushy insurance, a signing bonus, the opportunity to pick my school district, join a union that promotes higher pay on years rather performance, and I get to bitch non-stop about how awful my job is.

Note they have kids and seems to have no husband or spouse contributing to the household.
It's hard to make ends meet with out 2 incomes especially on a teachers wage.
This is why they pump socialism on our kids.
Also where do they live SF, NY or Kansas

If you select a profession, you should probably understand a little about the pay and benefits structure with respect to your desired lifestyle. Or, if you did all that, you probably should have had your life a little more in order instead of having divorces and baby daddies that sop up all of your resources.
People make bad decisions every day. Politicians and their media allies like to come along and blame "the system". Because naturally, if the "system" isnt broken, you dont need said politician to fix it. Its also extremely easy to convince someone that they are a victim.

This. It is one of the only industries where you can be completely shitty at your job and make the same pay as the person one room over who works extra hours and puts in 150% effort for YEARS.
That’s pretty much how all government jobs work.

Likely, or other high spending habits.
My company works with people trying to buy their first homes or start small businesses. We will have customers with 4 people in the home and $1500/month take home income, and they are spending $400 on phones/plans, streaming and TV services, and go out to eat 5 nights a week.

right. another unspoken benefit of the job. you can be atrocious at it, and no one will ever hold you accountable.

It is their own fault. They traded this off for the ability to basically have guaranteed job security.

Instead of running around with men-hating signs maybe they should run on a treadmill instead and they'd have a husband to pay the bills

Why does it take 2 masters degrees to be a teacher? Imagine how much better quality of life would be on a teacher’s pay without the debt of 2 advanced degrees over her head.

I'll defend teachers a little bit on this one. It's really difficult to accurately judge teachers in a lot of the more urban public schools, especially ones that are in lower income or immigrant-heavy areas. My wife constantly has kids coming in and out of her classroom that speak zero English or parents that do not give a single frick, and yet she is expected to improve their scores to a certain level. She can have 3/4 of her class as showing vastly improved, but the last 1/4 weigh down her rating, and nothing she can do would make those kids score higher.
That said, Metro Nashville pays teachers very well as far as teacher are concerned. She makes $65k/yr with fantastic benefits.

Teachers really don’t make that terrible of money. My wife is a teacher of 13 years and makes $64,000 a year in Ascension. She started year one making $42,000. I’m sorry, if that teacher has 16 years of experience AND a masters degree and still can’t make ends meet each month, she needs to cut some shite out. That’s her fault, not her paycheck’s.

My dad was a teacher in America. Mom wasn't beating him in the income department. They put me through college with no debt. We weren't rich, but never felt "poor". Except for places with ridiculously high costs of living, this is absurd.

I dont doubt that being a teacher in America today is a major challenge. But do you understand the insanity of asking politicians for more pay across the board? The same politicians who have allowed the system to degrade to this level? How does that fix anything?

I’m calling bullshite on the part about not being able to visit a doctor. Until recently my wife worked at a school and had the same insurance as the teachers. Their insurance is far and away better than anything offered in the private sector. And that’s in Alabama.
Pretty much this, too. The school system health insurance plans are top notch and hard to beat.
