New Orleans has culture, but also culcha.

Slidell has less of both.

I was born in New Orleans. Grew up in Slidell. Moved to Covington. If you ask me Slidell is turning into what everyone moved out of New Orleans for. I had a great childhood and felt relatively safe growing up. It's nice having access to New Orleans(The French Quarter/Metarie) and The Casinos on the Mississippi Coast. Great fishing and hunting. I am proud of my Louisiana heritage and love our unique culture.

Scuttlebutt has a New Orleans location?

It’s gone? Damn. When did that happen?

I’ve never been. Just saw it every time I went out there. It’s basically the strip club that’s been “visited” most without being visited.

Honestly if I were there and knew it was closing I’d take up in a shady motel down the street and go just because I hate myself.

Slidell is very different from 4 years ago. Rock bottom Interest rates and huge DR Horton communities facilitated Nola east moving to slidell. Now everywhere in slidell stinks like weed and it’s next to impossible to find a handicapped parking space.

I’d definitely look in Mississippi. Several of my co-workers have bought places in bay St Louis recently and the homeowners insurance is cheaper on bodies of water than what we pay in Louisiana. Seems like the cost of living is way cheaper being there

If you're gonna move to Slidell just to "escape the problems of New Orleans" you might as well just explore leaving the shite hole state completely at that point.

Bayou Liberty Road. Where the tag heads at the gas station skinned stolen pet goats and caused an uproar.

OP, Slidell isn’t worse than any other suburb of NOLA. Have some coworkers who commute, and never have complaints. I would choose Slidell over NOLA proper if a lot of things to do weren’t at the top of my list. NOLA has more, but Slidell isn’t a far drive for it or MS.

New Orleans East migrated to Slidell. Take that for what it’s worth. Oh, Chalmette did as well. Let’s just say it’s an interesting place now.

I owned a house in a decent subdivision in Slidell, pre-Katrina.

Yes, it looked like New Orleans East moved to Slidell in the aftermath of Katrina, and my old subdivision is now mostly section 8.

Born and raised in Slidell. Lived here all my life. It's not a bad place, but nothing like it was pre-Katrina. If moving to Mississippi wouldn't make my work commute even longer, I'd be out of here

Known George for decades. Good dude, wonderful home. BTW, the bayou’s name is “Bonfouca”, that’s French for great place to frick.

Some of the boat chase scene in “Live and Let Die” (1973 James Bond movie) was filmed on Bonfouca.
