Yeah, like everyone says, Publix is a bit more than the average supermarket but, in my opinion, is a more pleasant 30 minutes of your life than some of the others cheaper chains with many better options as well.

I used to feel the same and did my weekly grocery shopping at Publix. Man, when inflation hit, they sure seemed to take some liberties with prices. They were already higher than Kroger, of course, but my grocery bill grew by A LOT. I switched to Kroger but still hit Publix up for deli, bakery, seafood. I just couldn't justify the price difference on the entire bill. Hell, they're still sky high while Kroger has certainly come down in price the last few months.

It’s where shopping is a pleasure.

And that's because they charge just a little bit more than everyone else, keeping out the undesirables.

have a Kroger a couple minutes away and a publix 10 minutes away. I check Publix ads and go in for certain things. I do everything i cant find on sale through delivery with Krogers monthly plan.

I can't do my grocery shopping in just one store, especially if I'm cooking up a swanky meal, cleaning supplies, TP, paper towels, Kleenex, etc. come from Costco, foods are split up between about 2-3 grocery stores unless I'm just stocking up on normal stuff

I look at the markup at Publix as the price I have to pay to not have to shop at Walmart.

Don’t care about prices. This place will always be Pubix to me since my 9-yo son misread it that way on an OBA vacation.

I'd say 10-20% more than your average supermarket, but it's worth it. A corner near my house has a Kroger, Walmart Neighborhood market, and Publix all across from one another. I'll choose Publix 100% of the time, even if it means paying more. Clean, friendly, well-stocked, and not super crowded.

That's probably the case. I spend a week or so every couple of months in Pensacola, FL with my mother. That's where I usually go to Publix and don't really do a lot of comparison shopping.

Sure there are some better deals around without having to go to Walmart or the Cost +10% places I just find unpleasant.

Publix is great but I prefer the Kroger

I don’t like all krogers but the one by my house is badasses and I think their prices are 20-30% cheaper than Publix

I would never buy produce and meats from Kroger though.. I go to Publix for that stuff

Florida man here which is the home of Publix. They’re more expensive but Publix has very good customer service. You will never go to a Publix and interact with an employee with a. Bad attitude. They’re clean stores and have an amazing logistics operation.

When we get our hurricanes, Publix plays a huge role in keeping Florida from absolutely melting down. They get wiped out with panic buying and will be restocked almost immediately after the storm as long as the store is still standing.

They are employee owned and many of their employees work there starting as teenagers through their life. They’re often millionaires when they retire. Just a great American company.

I don’t and have never worked there but I really admire what they do.

Their fried chicken is excellent. Also if you ask an employee where something is located, they take you there.

Slightly more expensive, but when items are on sale they are almost always BOGO so if you know what you're doing you can get out cheaper.

Publix is so great

The higher prices keep out the riff raff and it’s a more pleasurable shopping experience

Except when you take into account a Giant subsidiary. They can get punched with a bag of rotting cantaloupes. Everywhere I've been forced to shop at one, I was gobsmacked by how much things cost compared to H-E-B, Publix, or Walmart. But do take into account I wasn't at the stage of buying stuff like Cambozola and other fancy shite yet.

Typically more expensive, but their "store brand" is very very good for just about everything.

Their deli and bakery are also top notch.

Friend,

Publix is at the bottom of the grocery stores. The store brand, save for its ice cream, is average. The produce, butcher, and seafood are below average. The much ballyhooed subs there are at the level of Subway. Even their BOGOs are artificially priced, adjusted to a higher level so it is not a true BOGO.

For more please refer to TulaneLsU’s statistical analysis of Publix, HEB, and Rouses.

Yours,

Lucky man. We would be having their fried chicken twice a week. Certainly not cheap but it’s always a pleasant shopping experience. You can get deals on sale items and Staples are priced normally.
