They are now incorporating a certain amount of AI into the aircraft control systems. Pilot wanted to do something, AI didn't like it, pilot insisted, AI blew him out of the aircraft.

I guess the AI misunderstood when he told it “blow me.”

This story sounds like total government BS
Upon ejection the fuel is cut and the computers self destruct so as not to fall into enemy hands
So much seems wrong with the main stream media story

We are being led astray

YT A6 ejection

This plane, which was designed 65 years ago did a pretty decent job of it. I’d wager an F35 with computerized fly by wire stability augmentation systems might even do better?

Any support for that?

AF F-35 seats have a RAT that runs a blender that makes a pitcher of Daiquiris, complete with a little umbrella, for the drift down

Let me ask you a question.

Have you seen any pics of a missing plane or have you seen a gap in the trees and some dirt with a couple of ditches.

Are you sure that plane has crashed?

Can confirm this I grew up about 20 miles from Kingstree.

Almost certainly.

80 miles isn't significant.

All I can think about with this story is the Blue Angels pilot who went down with his plane and ejected at the last second, and died, to make sure it didn’t kill any innocents. Surely this guy had other options than to let the aircraft autopilot its way into a crash. But we don’t know any details.

I'll bet there was an airstrip within 80 miles.

This guy bailed out way early. Maybe unnecessarily.

See above,, you are assuming that the pilot initialized the ejection and that he/she was not in a medical emergency.
well, the Marine grounded their entire fleet and suggested all pilots needed some additional safety training...that would suggest pilot error of some sort...

As I understood the first reports the jet was set to autopilot and kept right on flying. I had no idea an F-35 was equipped with autopilot, but that was the report.

What were the bad decisions

Ejecting from a plane . . .

Did the pilot decide to initiate the ejection?

quote:

. . . capable of flying another 80 miles over a populated area . . .

Did the pilot know that it was "capable of flying another 80 miles"?

quote:

. . . and leaving it on autopilot to eventually crash in an unknown place endangering the lives of civilians on the ground?

Did the pilot have the time/capability to take the plane off auto-pilot? Was that even a decision that the pilot made? What is the protocol for that? Is that what he was supposed to do?

Doing that over open ocean is one thing. Doing it over SC is another.

It kind of sounds like you don't really know what you are talking about.

No, the aircraft has auto-eject. Who in the hell else could have initiated it?

That is his job. To figure out and understand what emergency procedures are required. That is what he is supposedly trained to do.

He had plenty of time. 80 miles of time.

Says the guy who asks, "did the pilot initiate the ejection?
