Read up on the 1934 NFA and the 1968 GCA as amended in 1986. Until you understand the current legal landscape at its most basic level you should probably find another topic to discuss.

I ask them to a search YouTube for Piers Morgan getting shite on by the likes of Alex Jones or Jessie Ventura. They'll learn on their own because they certainly don't want to concede the argument to a friend or family member.

Libs say we don't need guns to keep us safe while at the same time saying they need to confiscate guns to keep us safe. Can't have it both ways.
Guns are here to stay. Disarmament would only take guns from the law abiding citizens. Criminala/terrorists could continue to find guns through the ones currently available on the street plus the flow of guns over the Mexican border that Liberals refuse to secure.

They'd say the same about you. You could talk about Jesus next.
I want a world where crazy fricks like the Colorado Springs guy can't get a gun. But I love my CZ and would like to buy another pistol or two. Where is the middle ground.

How do u respond to these people who think that the problem is our laws and not the individual?
This is a totally different question than "is gun control the answer?"
The simple answer to the thread title question is that, yes, many other industrialized countries have successfully implemented gun control laws that have astronomically reduced gun crime in those countries relative to the U.S.

It's not just a Lib thing. I hope that's clear to most.

Yes, suicide by gun being included massively alters the numbers.
CDC reported over 21 thousand deaths related to firearm suicides.

50% is an insignificant amount, right?

Good, make it happen.

Pretty much almost there. I'd like to see the 1934 NFA and the 1986 FOPA repealed though.

It certainly wont really stop anything, but I also so see how the other side gets so outraged when people talk about gun control. I doesnt hurt to at least attempt to make it more difficult for lunatics to get their hands on automatic weapons.
Yeah, this is what I mean when I'm "pro-gun control". Sure, he's probably going to eventually acquire one by illegal means, but if a known mentally disturbed person tries to purchase a weapon, then they could at least alert the authorities about it. It won't be able to stop all of them, but it may mean the difference in a few of these shootings.

Or throw some history in their face; The Japanese did not invade the US mainland in WW2 because they feared every American had a gun.
