Grew up fishing down there as we lived in Bourg sadly it’s become arguably the trashiest bayou community. Couple nice camps and lots of drugs and riff raff most decent people that could afford to leave got out and moved up da bayou. Terrible land loss too around there.

In middle school we had a principle Mr. Huget.. He was an older man and this was early 90s, but our teacher told us that his name used to be pronounced U gay and about half way into his career he changed how it was pronounced to Hu-Get because the word gay was starting to be used to describe a homosexual and at the time I thought it was hilarious that his students probably said all kind of shite to him.. "Hey Mr. You Gay.. how's those butt cheeks?".. I doubt they said that, but you get the point.
