Carry-a is the proper pronunciation for that name. The hillbillies that live there might pronounce it differently.

It is much like how Obama incorrectly saying Pockystan when it is really pronounced shite-hole

I've always pronounced it "Care-rear".

ETA: I grew up in Hancock County, which borders Pearl River County, where Carriere is located. I've never heard it pronounced any other way.

In the 14th century, speakers of Middle English began to drop the "n" at the end of the word, and even to this day some English speakers pronounce "kiln" so that it rhymes with "mill." In fact, like "kiln," "mill" (from Late Latin molina) was originally spelled and pronounced with a terminal "n." Unlike "mill," however, "kiln" has retained the final "n" in spelling, if not always in pronunciation.

Google Maps navigation pronounces Kiln correctly, but Delisle incorrectly.

How’s it do with Bawcomville or Pound Town?

I’ve been to Muff,Ireland.

It’s just NW of Derry, NI.
