So how often during a year do krewes meet? You pay a couple of Grand a year, is that because they do things other than Mardi Gras?
I ask YOU this because I know you have a history in New Orleans. And also know the kind of crew that you're familiar with, such as cell block D, is probably a different deal.
Thank you for your info. Anticipating a clever remark, so please take your time.

Thoth gives you a lot of bang for your buck.
$750 membership gets you:
A meeting with free food and beer every month.
A free coronation ticket for members at the Riverside Hilton with a sit down meal, open bar, bands
Many Krewe events throughout the year such as a golf tournament, Day at the races, etc.(for a fee)
No mandated Krewe throws but the ability to purchase packages and have them loaded
Not crammed on the float like a sardine
Access to your float for 4 days prior to parade for loading
One of the best and longest routes
I can tell you my wife paid 3X more to ride in Cleopatra with half the bennies and no room to stand
If you can get in it’s a great ride!

It’s such an awesome krewe.
I loved the monthly meetings and our float group gatherings.
The low IQs of the OT have no idea of how much fun the coronation ball is and how much fun the group had as a whole. The kings march through the quarter alone is almost worth the membership.

What happens to that 350 dollar check if you don’t get it? Are you just SOL?

I joined the Krewe of Krispy Kreme. Best Tree Fiddy I ever spent.

So I give them 750 and get free beer every month?
How do they make money?
Free beer and I am like John Pinette at a Chinese buffet!

Been there, done that, had a great time, but after a few years the value just wasn’t there for me.
It works for some folks, and that’s fine.
Endymion (& Bacchus) memberships are nice in that your obligation to the Organization is just in money, not time. Other Carnival organizations can require members to go Krewe-related events or work parties.
That’s not a problem with E or B.

You can go online or to the office and fill out an application. I believe there is a $300 app fee. You need references, and then you wait.
Dues are $2100 this coming year. That is an increase from $1850 the past few years.
It includes your ride, about $1000 in Endymion throws, two extravaganza and coronation ball tickets.
I spend another $1500 on throws and do just fine. I only throw stuff to kids and chicks with big tits. I stopped buying “throw beads” because the people down want them, they just hit the ground. I buy all big beads and light up stuff.
There is a float fee, usually about $60, which includes all the beer, drinks, food, etc on the float.
Usually all my guests at our table buy the food and booze for the extravaganza.
You need a tux for the coronation ball, so that’s more money, I suggest buying a tux, you’ll save in the long run.
The whole thing is pricey, and eventually gets old, but I’m 22 years in with my Dad, and only because my Dad loves the day with me I stay in. If you never rode it’s an absolute blasts.

Here's a list for you:
1. Wear a Bobby Herbert Saints jersey to all home games.
2. When you fish, never throw a croaker back. Bring it home and eat it, as always.
3. If you have a young daughter, make sure she gets her ears pierced no later than 4 years old.
4. Always have more white wine in your home than red.
5. You must have at least one member of your household who sports a mustache.

My BIL is in it. It’s just all about $$$$. You got it, you can get in.

Last year was $750. This year (26-27) it went up (gasp!) $25!
And yes, free food and beer every month at the meetings, a free coronation ticket ($140 value) and access to several other relatively inexpensive events.
They can afford to do this because the captain and officers had the foresight to own and not rent. They own their own dens, floats, tractors, etc.

beads were not completely loaded

Your float lieutenant is supposed to confirm each rider’s throws have been loaded. He’s at fault.

EDIT: Like I said, I'm not happy and besides quitting the next best thing I can do is buy elsewhere and load them myself. So, problem solved. If I don't like it I can and will leave. Endymion would not care.

I've been riding on a float with Lithium since 2010, we are now a group of 3 since my stepson is riding as well...what we did this year was to buy t-shirts and socks on top of what was provided in the Krewe package.
I show up for the last day of float load and load up the shirts and socks, since we got our new chassis a couple of years back, we have a lot of room to organize throws
