re: How did 246 ‘fully vaccinated’ people still get COVID-19?

Truth is, I may yet get the vaccine, and I may not, but I would like to have ALL the information in front of me before I pull the trigger.

I'm guessing you've never caught the flu after getting a flu shot?
This is pretty common. I guarantee not one out of those 246 died from Covid. Vaccines are only there to prevent "Severe" illness.

Way less than 1 in 20 are at risk of COVID after receiving the vaccines.
Good! That means we dont need 75% of the population to get the vaccine before we open shite wide open

if it's 95% effective that means 5% (or 1 in 20) can still get infected. 246 per 5000 people vaccinated is right at that 5%
a lot more than 5000 people have been vaccinated
That 95% effective is of a population that would normally be infected over a specified timeframe.

The vaccines don't claim to be 100% effective.
Yes, and remember...Vaccine efficacy is the percentage reduction in a disease in a group of people who received a vaccination in a clinical trial. It differs from vaccine effectiveness, which measures how well a vaccine works when given to people in the community outside of clinical trials. The percentage given for these vaccines is their efficacy rate...not their efficiency rate. Those are two different things.

The vaccine doesn’t mean you don’t get it. It’s just significantly lessens the severity.
False. For at least 90% of fully vaccinated people it means you wont get a real infection. You just immediately clear it.
The other 10% should be less severe

My 70 year old mother got the Pfizer vaccine. She's been doing whatever she wants and is healthy as she can be. She tested positive for Covid later and only had a runny nose.
My 39 year old brother in law is a Pentacostal/Evangelical nutcase and thinks the vaccine was created by Satan himself. He caught Covid at Church last weekend and is now in the hospital with double pneumonia.
Vaccine with Covid seems like better option to me....
God gave you a brain...use it.

What is up with all the anti-vax posts this morning?

100% agree but not due to anything with the vaccine.

Does anyone know how long the vaccine last and how often do you need to get a booster or re-vaccinated?

No one knows yet. Latest findings suggested at least 6 months for one of the double doses.
Only time will tell really.

This is actually pretty much known science with vaccinations.
They do not always elicit a sufficient immunological response in every person.
Also, Scruffy recommends that you stop reading info on this topic.
It serves no purpose anymore.

Since the virus is now Endemic...my guess is 6-9 months....just like the Flu Vaccine.
You'll most likely need a seasonal booster to keep up with the different strains/variants.

I'll just wait and see what time tells......

1 time use vaccines are for viruses with low mutation rates.
For example: You get an MMR or Polio vax as a child and you are immune to Measles, Mumps, Rubella, and Polio for life.
Viruses with high mutation rates like Flu and Coronaviruses will require yearly boosters.

I’m really not. I may very well be wrong about my apprehension to getting the vaccine, but I may not either. I do think the medical professionals who are bringing up concerns raise valid concerns though, and it’s probably because it’s so experimental that it’s what’s causing people to be very apprehensive. I don’t think that’s a bad human trait to question and be careful with whom they put their trust in. I think that’s what intelligent people do.

This is just the opposite end of media fear porn totally lacking in perspective (on purpose). Just like it was and has been absurd to view infection as a virtual death sentence....it is equally absurd to claim the vaccine as totally useless because a RELATIVELY small portion of those vaccinated still "got the virus". And this is coming from someone who currently has no plans to take the vaccine (at least at this point).
All that is reported are EXTREME positions one way or the other, and that is all the polarized population wants to hear. We are not a "stupid" population. Just one that is incredibly lazy. We want the news/social media to tell us the full answer in one brief sentence (TLDR) without forcing us to engage in any sort of critical thinking exercise.

The anti-vac people on here are more vocal in shoving shite down our throat than the pro vac guys. Y’all are literally a bunch of Karens.
Your math is also awful, which makes sense why you think this is some big conspiracy

curious what's going to happen when Phizer and Moderna get fully approved next month
did they apply yet?
I remember reading that April '21 was the projected timeframe for full approval but that was months ago. I hadn't seen anything new lately.
