This is actually factually correct.

The crypts and bloods both tried to start affiliations in La. They were both murdered with the quickness.

Don't forget Mississippi. They are near the top when it comes to gang infiltration

The mafia sold the drugs to the gangs. The gangs were middle men

Chicago is 8 hours directly north. That's where most of their gang influence comes from I think.

Yep. Police chief, an import from Illinois got in trouble for saying LA gangs had arrived in force.

He was dead on, the locals just didn't want to hear it. He was also the chief who said "let it burn" during the cedar grove riot.

I was in a bar there around '89 or '90 wearing a Houston Astros cap, and somebody told me I better take it off or I risked pissing off the Hoover Crips who had recently come into town.

I'm with the Vipers. We have a wine smuggling operation that only occasionally gets disturbed by Italians from North Jersey

How do/did gangs and The mafia coexist in cities like Chicago and new york?

Might be some bad mofos in gangs but there's a different level of evil in the mafia. Seems the mafia's crime target market is also different in a lot of cases. Their money making ventures don't cross paths for the most part.

If I had a choice, I'd rather a gang come after me than the mafia. Mafia is relentless and connected worldwide.

I know back in the 80s in Lafayette Sheriff Don Breaux was very pro-active in eradicating outside gangs. When ever informants told them about outsiders coming in to town the Sheriff Deputies would find them and bring them to the Greyhound Station and ship them out of town

I remember watching a gang special about New Orleans a long time ago, which I know probably wasn't the best source, and this was pretty much what they said. People are murdering each other too fast.

The Italian mafia is a shell of its old self. They've been replaced by the Russians and eastern Europeans who are a ton more ruthless and twice as smart as the Italians were.
