Because the politicians haven't figured out how to get the kickback from the gangs

Sabi can give us some insight to this, but the big gangs, including MCs, have always "franchised" here, they've got their hand in the cookie jar here, and have had it there for decades

MS13, Aryan Brotherhood, and Gangster Disciples are in B.R.

Perhaps we should start a campaign promoting the benefits of doing business in Lewzianer.

Come on man... New Orleans and BR are not really media mecca type cities... But the gangs you mentioned worked hard to "brand" themselves. In New Orleans, at one point in the 90s it was the murder capital of the world.. And not just because Master P said so in his songs.. Between the corrupt police and gang/drug activity. shite got real... There were gangs, but I think from the outside, most people identified them by each project.
In the 3rd you got Magnolia and Melpomene (and maybe one or two more) in the 7th you got Desire, etc, etc.. So there were a lot of different gangs fighting in the turf war. In L.A. with the obvious Blood & Crips, I think the LA Riots in the early 90s brought a lot of attention to them. You can ask anyone to name you two famous gangs in the the US.. They might not know anything about the gang world, but more than likely they can name the bloods and crips.
What about Hells Angels and other biker gangs? Its the same for them. If they started in Broussard, Louisiana do you think they would be as well known as they are? They had to make national news for people to hear about them.

We're not talking about Sabi and Darth's "riding clubs" with their motorcycle mom jeans bro

Don't know about BR gang activity but my understanding of NOLA gangs is they are mostly family crime families lead by heads of households

That statement is a paraphrase of a quote from the head of FBI task force who deal with Eastern Europe/russian crime syndicates.

The first part is a given. That's not some gotcha point.
And the second part is an opinion. I've read enough books and literature on the mob, specifically by cops and Feds, to know that the government is just as sleazy as the people they're going after. I don't put much weight into what one person says
Hell at one time the head of the fbi wouldn't even recognize that the mob existed.
The Italian mob here were decimated by Rico, drug sentences, the witness protection program, and themselves. They didn't get moved out
