You know, greats such as Frank, Nat King Cole, Paclido et al.

What held him back? voice? Songwriters? Something else?

Not everyone can be Michael Jordan.

Sometimes you have to settle for being theBron

Because Elvis broke the mold of "the Greats"...

Crooners became obsolete after Rock and Roll came into play...

He flops and cries onstage when performing?

Because he’s like 50 years younger than those guys and that style of music is not popular anymore.

Timing. He is great. I've seen him in concert and he is supremely talented.

His type of music just isn't that popular today.

His New Orleans accent is WAY too fake.

Because a lot of what he does has already been done.

He chose the actor/personality route over the crooner/singer route. More money.

Buble has taken over the crooner/Christmas songs scene.

Who wants to grind it out in Vegas for 20 years?

Tried to be fake New Orleans with the world at-large, and the gimmick didn't work. He's okay, but like others said, he isn't great. Hell, I'm from NOLA, and I prefer Michael Buble. The niche is small but very loyal for jazz and standards. Connick never seemed to have a personality that held widespread appeal.

Because swing/big band music is not a big deal any more. That's the type of music he usually sings. Buble and Connick Jr. are at the height of that industry now.
