No CONFIRMED cases... then again no available tests either, but we can't be fact checking using whole truths.. that would be unfair or something

This is the flaw in his whole ‘we need to take more drastic action’ argument. I’m not saying we shouldn’t be proactive or take this seriously. My problem with JBE is he knows we just started testing, so of course the confirmed numbers are going up quickly, yet he responds to the testing results as ‘people aren’t listening to me so I need to scold them for not listening and order more lockdowns’. We’re the next Italy, dammit!

Exactly. Increased numbers of "confirmed" cases do not warrant ever draconian measures. Impose reasonable measures and just let this play out. Hell, it may be way too late anyway as it is becoming increasingly apparent that there are large numbers of asymptomatic positives walking around out there. The country has limited patience for this lockdown stuff. Maybe a couple of weeks max, and then it is time to start transitioning back to normal activity.

We would have had to shut everything down before or right after Mardi Gras. It was probably too late even then.

Well, the first Louisianian died 9 days ago, the incubation period is 5-6 days, that seems to confirm someone had it two weeks ago and they caught it from someone who had it earlier.
You have to abandon science to make his argument even if he is playing a semantic game of no COVID19 if no test.

He also said he didn’t know how many cases (percentage) require hospitalization but if we act now our hospitals will be overrun in 7-10 days.

I think its accepted even by baws on this site that New Orleans is an epicenter. There is an uptick of ARDS in New Orleans because of this. To continue the logic purported by this board of “I had this back in December!!1!1!” There would also need to be an uptick of ventilator dependent ARDS without an alternative explanation. Has that been present? I have seen no evidence of that.
