I'm not defending racism but if locking your doors because they're black males is racist and wrong, isn't locking your doors because they're males sexist and wrong for the same reason (stereotyping)?

eta- or maybe you're referring more to the 'dressed in red'?

Bingo.

Hell, if a group of folks are shambling toward me looking thuggish, IDGAF what color their skin is, I'm taking precautions.

It's not their skin color that's the issue. It's their comportment.

Fundamentally we classify people by their language skills. If they speak proper English it really doesn’t matter what race, gender etc they may be. Coincidentally, those that speak proper English generally have jobs and the jobs that they do have are better than if they didn’t speak proper English

If you “axe” me a question, I tend to think you are lower class. If you sound like a total redneck when you speak, I normally don’t want much to do with you. If you are Hispanic and struggle with the language, we don’t have a lot of common ground

Clearly there are exceptions to this rule of thumb, but in 2019 I think it is more about “class” than race when people look down or blanket dislike people

But taking it to the point of "my race invented this or that, what has your race done" just seems insecure to me.

Whoa nelly. My Irish and Scottish ancestors made it stylish to be drunk in public, so let’s give credit where due. Imagine how many lives we’ve positively impacted.

I think the definition has changed. Now any sort of stereotype, positive or negative, associated with a certain race (as true as they may be) are considered racism.

The wall has nothing to do with race or being racist. It's purpose is help follow the law and encourage documentation and LEGAL immigration. The problem is following the LAW and being able to enforce those LAWS. If we don't have control and a handle of who is here, we cannot begin to do this properly.

I am in a business where I encounter south-of-the-border immigrants often, I like them, they are reliable and hard workers. There are also bad apples in the bunch.

I just believe that we need to know how many are here, who they are. They should be able to provide documentation and identification. If they break the law, we should be able to deport them. If born here, their children should not automatically be citizens, but I also believe that there should be reasonable path to citizenship. Their income should be be taxed for a specific set of immigrant benefits. The employers should have immigrant payroll taxes. This shite is not difficult but somehow our government can frick up anything.

There are a variety of reasons for this to be the case.

And according to the people who preach against racism the reasons are due to evil white people.

People don’t want to ‘see skin color’ when it is bad but wrap themselves in it when they want to gain an advantage (affirmative action, diversity, etc). There ‘are no differences’ only when we are talking about negative things but we are expected to play up the ‘positives’ of minority races when it benefits them (better at sports, etc).

If you say white people do some things better you are racist but if you say blacks do things better you are celebrated. By many of the same types of people in this thread claiming a person shouldn’t be racist.

Honest answer? You Ivie in an insulated, isolated bubble where you only deal with people who look, act, and think like you.

The more you interact with people you realize people are significantly more alike than they are different

"Racism" (the real kind and the much more common pretend kind) is a booming industry.

It is an INDUSTRY that creates much wealth, fame and power.

Racism will NOT disappear anytime soon because those who cry AGAINST it the loudest would never, never, NEVER let it go away.

I’m with you, I don’t believe in racist. I don’t care who you are, you can’t inherently believe you’re better than someone else...whether they’re a gutter punk, a Wall Street trader, a little kid in Africa with flies in his eyes, a liberal politician...we all have the same organs and bodily fluids, we all have fingernails and feet, and we’re all going to take our last breath in the solitude of death.

The OP said this:

the numbers aren't as polar as before and don't support the rationale.
but, of course, he didn't actually provide any criminal stats.
