So is it a coincidence that the individuals who commit 85% of the crime in my area all share the same ethnicity?

This is the goal but the human brain naturally searches for patterns. It's a blessing and a curse.

There are a variety of reasons for this to be the case. It goes alot deeper than just skin tone.

It's pretty easy to not be racist.

Dumb people are racist and/or think everything is racist.

This country, unfortunately, is absolutely lousy with dumb people. And they breed like fricking rabbits

What drives me nuts about racism in Texas is the sneakiness about it. I know countless, COUNTLESS build that wall types who work with, employ or even friends with undocumented Mexicans. I've had some heated yet still friendly debates with old HS friends who KNOW their family, friends or friends of friends could.not have survived in the 70's and 80's without - gasp - Alejandro. Dairies. Ranches. Construction. You name it. Sillier still? Get them around a minority and a Miler Lite after the job is done and everyone is just alike. Happy and laughing. fricking mind boggling.

I think that's less racism and more duplicity than anything. I'm a "build the wall type" I guess, in the sense that I think we need immigration reform to discourage illegal immigration, but I don't hate latinos or employ illegals. Hell, i live in a majority Hispanic city and it's my favorite place on earth because of its rich culture.

Nothing like a couple of cervezas to break down racial barriers

I know you're an SA guy and I don't hold it against you. Go Mavs. And more than most you get waaay more than people here about racism. Way more. And it hasn't broken you at all. You're a damn good dude.

This though... Like, a Nike or Dick's boycott. It made me chuckle at the bandwagon types. Was brought up by some friends and such and morphed into a Wall diatribe. I told them, hell, boycott those with Mexican labor too then. Don't drive on a street or highway. Don't live in a house. Eat anywhere. Stay in a hotel. On and on. It's endless. We just drank more after that as I recall.

Well put. Ut really is silly when you get down to it. I despise boycott types. I'm a consumer with one shirt life to live and I'll be damned if I disallow myself from enjoying something I like just because of differences in political opinion. frick all that noise.

Drink some cold ones with every shade of melanin and enjoy life.

So what you are saying is that if I've learned it's best to lock my car doors when I see a group of black guys decked out in red coming my way in my city, I shouldnt have to have the same concern if I found myself in the same situation in L.A. or NYC??

Just wondering cause that would be great. I'll open my window. Hang my hand out to give them a high five wearing a nice white boy watch...

Stop being pedantic.

If you see a group of red-clad young males coming your way in that situation, it doesn't matter what their race is. Lock your damn doors.

If you react the same way to a group of minority men approaching in business attire or just normal wear and clearly posing no threats, then that's the rub.

My take... I introduced some recent college graduate jackwagons from Minnesota to the splendor of the deep south (Mississippi delta town.) First day they wanted to change the world... Five days after being Teach for America volunteers in the classroom they were 100 cuss-words a minute about the fricked up minority "family" structure and how these "motherfricking idiot n.....s" don't know the difference in ABC, red white and blue and 123. Liberals...save us all

Personally, based on growing up in a majority African-American area and, over time, dealing with a lot of people from different regions and countries, we are at a point where our society is class-based, not race-based.

In my line of work I've dealt with FIRST generation immigrants from Russia, Peru, Brazil, India, Romania and a few other countries. I'm country as a chicken biscuit with gravy, and those people's views about their country (the USA) are more hard-line than any hard-line conservative "American" you've ever met, because they've lived the struggle. And its class based, not race based.

I had a sales rep who was born in Russia...immigrated to Miami with his mom. I talked to him on the phone on the morning of 9/11 and that guy wanted to go kill people. Literally...All of them, one by one, with his bare hands, and shite down their neck after he ripped their heads off. I've never encountered a man who was so livid. Made me realize l didn't appreciate my rights to citizenship.

I'd give a months pay to have a recording of my phone call that day with that guy just so l could share it with my kids.
