ok, so it sounds like with more people trying to access them during the height of lockdowns (though it led to pausing what little access they had), candidates with platforms that support opening access further are the next logical step
You're still focused on the not-the-point part of what I said. I think our laws would be more reflective of our majority's values if we had election participation similar to countries with compulsory voting.

One common element in these mass shootings is the use of ssri uptake inhibitors like Prozac.
The pharmaceutical industry does a real good job of keeping that fact obscured
Up vote, Sir. Half the people you know are on some kind of antidepressants, anxiety, or other phycosis meds.

And I disagree. There is a whole segment in the USA that is directly incentivized to vote a certain way to keep their income coming in. They literally have zero clues nor care about any other issues than who is going to give them free phones, section 8 houses, and raise the amount on their WIC card.
I couldn't care less if those people vote or not and if they were forced to then it would actually be less reflective of our values. The ones that care about values are the ones showing up to vote for their beliefs. That is a true representation.

For a long time, our society has been losing its moral code. This is just another brick in the wall.
Eventually, there will be another religions "Great Awakening" in this country.
Perhaps when this Forth Turning event is over.
That being said, the immoral inertia is too powerful to turn around right now. It is going to get worse. And it is almost summer...

As a society we need to do a better job of identifying individuals who are not mentally healthy and getting them help. We also need to do a better job of cooperating with police and turning in our criminals (no comment on which part of society has this problem)

I think it would be best that qualified doctors handle the final decision on who's crazy. It shouldn't be crazy until proven normal though. It shouldn't be the decision of a single doctors diagnosis of mental illness either.
We as a nation have become far too tribal in our political beliefs, particularly with respect to guns, that I honestly don't feel comfortable leaving anyone's right to own a gun up to someone else's subjective beliefs
This is true. These doctors would have to be highly vetted to not have political ties or influence of any sort. My statement was for determining if someone is mentally ill though, not saying there needs to be mental health check to buy a gun. I get the connection though and if people are too fearful of that getting corrupt, then we end to learn to move on and just accept that this will continue to happen.

That would affect one demographic disproportionately and would cause some strife.

Honestly? Repealing the 19th amendment and restoring the patriarchy. Allowing women to have so much influence over our society has been a disastrous failure. Amy clear thinking individual can see this.

Yes this can be fricking fixed.
Every single weapon in this country should be registered.
Every single gun owner should have to pass meticulous screening.

Release every drug offender from prison and lock up the illegal gun fricks.

Personal responsibility which one party of this country does not believe in anymore. Therefore, it's not fixable.

Stop glorifying them. Literally stop publishing their faces and names. Leave it to the FBI to investigate if they want. But take the posthumous glory out of it.
And be less "sad" about the event and more "hell yes look at the heros who stood up to the a-hole!"

Expand our mental healthcare systems. Open more hospitals for people to get treatment when they're struggling mentally. Make it easier for parents to get treatment for their children. I have several friends who have adopted children that have needed help and it's nearly impossible to get someone placed in a facility for extended treatment beyond 48-72 hours.
You are 100% correct. I’ve shared your experience. Getting mental care for someone that needs it is very difficult.

I truly don’t see any law that can fix this. I think others have hit on it, but it revolves of society changing in terms of how it functions with regards to self worth and also treatment of mental health
I wish I knew the answer, but the truth is it just doesn’t seem feasible to really “do anything”

Lol, all my guns are registered. I’m not going to shoot up any place.
So, should my guns be taken away?
Serious reply only…not emotional drivel

Here we go again, I agree completely with this!

Focus more on strong family households. Parents need to be parents and not their kids friends. Raise the boys as men and the girls as women. None of this “other gender bullshite.” Stop trying to be the cool parent/friend.
Force your kids from a very young age to be involved in activities with other kids that helps with social interaction and building relationships, etc
Social media needs major changes and the easiest way to help with that also goes back to a strong family household where the video games and phones and computer time is very limited.

Things are different now but I played all the “dangerous” games when I was younger, didn’t go shoot up any place.
I don’t disagree with limiting social media, that’s for damn sure.

All of this, yes. We're a big, material driven country where thousands of people wash out from polite society every day and get lost. I don't think any non-Christian solution to this is really viable, but nonetheless the absence of real, genuine relationships arising from social media, bad parenting, nationalization of everything, lockdowns, etc. is killing this country.
