I've heard the mystic art of levitation works for this. Never tried it myself, though, because who would ever think about protecting the bottom of fricking shoes?

For my dress shoes, I dip the soles in liquid Flex Seal.

The OT never disappoints. They say there is never a stupid question, but the OT proves that just a myth

To add something to this though, I have a favorite pair of boots. They are close to 20 years old and I have had new soles done about 5 times on them. Shoes are made to be worn and used.
