Anyway. Dark, I saw this thread and decided to answer the question before asking my question.


I know this sounds like some kid shite, but I started building Lego Technic sets. Long story short someone suggested to me when I experience elevated stress. At first I thought they were out of their mind .. Lego? They want me to play with kid toys to lower my stress level? But I gave it a try and after I put together my first set and I actually was into it so I will buy one from time to time and do it.

My dad used to build planes (Military planes) and ships. They were scaled pretty big and took him a long time. I need to find it, but I still have a ship he build where the sides open up and the cannons come out, but I need to look around to find it. His projects too a long time, especially when he started getting sick. He would come home from work and go in his shop and work on them. The details were amazing. The sets he bought was mostly the add on.. The ship for example, it came with the cannons, the sails, etc but he had to get his own wood, there was a certain type he preferred to used, cut out the pieces, sand it down, stain it, etc. Sometimes it would take him a year and a half, I think the ship took him almost two years, etc.

He build this huge table that you could turn sideways to make it easy to store to the side or wherever, he covered it with some sort of green turf like material.. but it was thin. Anyway, we were going to put a train on it and then build a city. Something that we could do together over the years, etc.. But then he started getting sick and it started to become an afterthought. He ended up giving the table to a guy he worked with.. And I was in my preteen/early teen years and although I thought it was cool, I had other interest. Although I couldn't really play them, sports has always been my thing.. Still is, but I started to get the itch to build a model train city.. I know this is long just to ask a question, but since you are familiar with models, is there a certain brand of models that would be good for this? To build houses, businesses, etc.. some vehicles, etc?
