How bad would a virus have to be to collapse civilization?

What would the mortality rate and infection rate(how quickly it spreads) of a virus have to be to completely collapse civilization? I think something that spreads like COVID-19 but had a death rate of even 10-15 percent may do us in. Thoughts?

About this bad...when the media wants civilization to collapse.

The virus isn't doing anything. We are fricking shite up by basically outlawing many businesses.
And it won't have to be worse than Covid. Our media just needs to spread the right amount of fear during an election year for it to happen.

Depends on if the media wants enough hysteria to collapse the economy for political reasons.

0.3% or so appears to be doing us in.
Nearly zero if under 50 and in decent shape.

Apparently not very bad at all. Imagine if this was actually killing everyone, healthy, young or otherwise.

If it is bad enough to shut down all the logistics companies... We are fooked. Doesn't even have to be super deadly. We will live and die by the delivery people.

Doesn't have to be serious at all.
My concern now is that our media has cried wolf so much this year that no one will believe them if a serious virus does break out in the future.

Covid with a MERS mortality rate would do it.

Looks like government is trying to kill civilization, not the virus.

Depends. Is it an election year?

It would have to be bubonic plague level where people of all ages are dying quickly.
With the bubonic plague, they said you could feel fine in the morning and be dead by the evening.
With COVID-19 you have to get a test to see if you even have it.

Not much worse than Covid. Increase the mortality rate a little bit and a virus which primarly affected people between the ages of 2 and 25. That scenario would shut everything down. If people's children were being seriously affected everything would stop.

To collapse 2020 USA? Not bad at all.

Something as transmissible as covid with symptoms and death rate of Ebola where you bleed from every hole in your body sounds like a fricking nightmare.
I'd certainly be tuned in to that one. But this one with cold like symptoms and a very low fatality rate, I just won't lose sleep over it.

LOL, these geniuses think that not being able to go hang out in a bar = civilization is collapsed.
