You'll be fine, ya big puss. The pain is only temporary and you'll feel better once its over.

If you do the sedation, it won't be that bad. The local anesthetics they use to numb don't work well on me, and I have had several times they couldn't get the tooth fully numb. That's the way to go. They put the iv in, you go down, then it seems like 5 minutes later you're waking up finished. You're not fully under though. I've had some really weird dreams during it before. Also been a couple times I remember hearing them telling me to move a certain way or something, but didn't feel anything.

He's getting a root canal not having his tooth pulled

I had one a few weeks ago. Pretty uneventful experience. Don't be afraid to speak up if you feel anything at the start. Your Dentist can give you more numbing medicine so you don't feel a thing.

Felt like getting the crown was a longer, more involved process.

It'll probably be fine.... But just in case, is there anything you want to say too all of these folks?

UMMMM.....

Steroids can often make people feel like shite, so I'm wondering what the other stuff was that was actually "good".

It's not fun, but I was fishing a bass tournament the same evening the day I had one.

Worst part is when they use the tools to get the root out and you feel that shocker...

On the other hand, my girlfriend is a high metabolizer of the local anasthetic, and they never believe her until she tells them she can still feel what they're doing after a bunch of shots. Then she gets the gas.

I AM TOO. And my dentist doesn't do gas. WHO THE frick DOESN'T DO GAS? I didn't know this leading up to the root canal. He had me on valium and pain pills before but then goes "oh we don't use gas here."

I think it took 8 shots to do a canal on my front tooth. shite hurt like frick.

I’ve heard that but I believe that’s what had me feeling better than I have in years.

I didn't know he didn't use the GAS you frickin hilbilly frick.
I had only had cleanings and two crowns done there. The root canal was on my front tooth/crown. I 100% thought I was gettin da gas and they shot it up. I was like NOOOOOOOOO frickKKKKKKINNN WAYYYYYY. I told that mfer double whatever he planned to shoot me up with. I still felt it enough to NEVER get another root canal done without sedation.

ETA: This is the dentist who took over for the Hottest Dentist In BR I selected because the OT said she was hot

My dentist sent me to a guy whose entire practice is limited to root canal procedures only.

Have you ever heard of the Bay of Pigs Invasion? It will be three times as bad as that.
