If everyone embraced the idea of a well funded UBI (using a VAT) it would be awesome for the country.

Same. It will happen in my lifetime, possibly before my kids even graduate high school. My outlook on the future was fairly gloomy before they stole the election, it’s significantly more gloomy afterwards. The historical parallels are there to a shocking degree.

There will be internal war in this country. Not sure when, but it's likely coming. The democrats have got most of the country either hating or jealous of the rest of the country.

A lot of the country would be shocked. Here is your 2k per month for your family of 4 for basic subsistence. They think that the government is going to build them a middle class house or something

I’m more concerned about the next world war we’re going to lose and transfer superpower status during/after. Internal war will be after. Clearly the last year has shown this country to be filled with a minority agitators, a larger minority of ideological support, and a majority of acquiescent pussies unwilling stand for what they claim to believe in.

Why?

You think people are going to be happy with that? No matter what they will want more once they get used to the UBI. Explain why it would be so awesome.

If everyone is saying there is no way we have hyperinflation then I’m going to say we definitely will have hyperinflation.

The last decade, people almost have been mostly saying that hyperinflation was going to happen. Very few doomers were suggesting Japanification, to my recall. But the monetary, social, and demographic issues are there.

The dollars created are base money and therefore aren't in circulation.

Can someone give me some obscure financial advice on what to do with my savings? Don't say bitcoin because that has appeared to have topped out & the last thing I want is to put it all in that & see it halved in a week. Seriously? Maybe transfer it all to some other currency or but bricks of silver?

Clearly you don't know much about extremely contagious viruses and the actual limitations of the abilities of the government.

There were early predictions that ranged as high as 2.2 million deaths.

Clinton was the last to balance the budget. Two years in a row as I recall.

Not reading whole thread, but that’s why Qaddafi was done in. He was trying to frick with our monopoly on buying oil.

I’m of the strong belief that those in charge will keep this Ponzi scheme going. It’s serving their best selfish interests, which serves our best interest.

Ok. So every other item that is included in any inflation measure; where has it gone?

Umm...not a part of any inflation measure I know. But surely, investing in stocks and seeing their prices rise is a good thing right?

Same...same. I’ve been purchasing gold and crypto among other physical necessities that will be in high demand.

I’d rather plan and not have it happen. Beats the alternative.

Its not that simple - a well thought and funded UBI should and could reduce welfare programs. UBI that isnt means tested and is universal isnt welfare, it is just a base level of money that is set up to cycle through the economy.
