His name too. Probably still puts on Dr. Jill's though.

I didn’t mention the CPI. You can use the implicit GDP deflator if you want.

quote:

For example, the cost of college tuition, the price of real estate, and the price of equities have not increased by only 1%-3%.

Inflation, in general as measure by the CPI and deflator, measure average changes in prices. Some rise faster than average. Some slower.

quote:

Pretty sure they just had to print money just in order to buy bonds to prevent yields from going up on those treasury bonds because people think inflation is coming.

They’re more focused on other purchases and policies as opposed to OMO right now.

Look at markets.
Money in commercial property -- nope
Money in lending -- nope
Money in Bonds -- nope

Only place any money is being made is in Stocks and Bitcoin.
Both are being held up because nothing else to invest in for most.

first deflation, than hyperinflation

i also think the unemployment boost that is slated to last until august will be here to stay long-term. its providing people with a UBI without labelling it a "UBI"

They never stopped. We just realized that Marxism was going to destroy this country faster than debt and we were willing to compromise to fight Marxism first.

It’s not that the gotcha you think it is

It shouldn't have been this bad with competent leadership / response effort.

I have no doubt that would have been just as bad or worse if it had hit during Biden's leadership though.

I don't assume Biden / Democratic Establishment leadership would have been better - just that intelligent and competent leadership would have been better, although obtaining that sort of leadership appears to be wishful thinking these days

They'll probably ratchet down the income levels but when $1 now is worth 40 cents in 5 years it won't matter much. Congrats, the government paid your electric bill

If everyone is saying there is no way we have hyperinflation then I’m going to say we definitely will have hyperinflation.

That’s usually how these things work

just gotta get in and out before it pops- crypto is droppin right now - if you can get in below $30k, you will have an opportunity to bail at 2x or 3x your buy in before it pops.

When this run really hits it will approach, if not surpass, $100k, just gotta get in and out.

I bought in for the long haul but may bail at $100k and then buy back in after it tanks to increase my holdings for the next bull run.

Things would have been better because no one would have used covid as a political weapon if Biden was president. Just like swine flu with Obama.

Democratic mayors, governors, and senators destroyed this economy and country. Not trump.

Because it's nothing like UBI. It's only available if you're out of work and qualify for UI payments.

It also is the worst possible way to stimulate the economy. Unless you're Amazon.

I have read a lot of economic doomer stuff for about 15 years. But, I have never really been able to figure out if the collapse will be deflationary or hyperinflation. I have always leaned hyperinflation. But, this is nothing new from Roach. He and the goldbug types have been writing about these things for a long time.

If everyone embraced the idea of a well funded UBI (using a VAT) it would be awesome for the country. But since we will fight it tooth and nail before it inevitably happens, we will end up with the worst possible iteration of what a UBI could be. (it won't even be an actual UBI given income requirements and other bullshite tests surrounding who gets it).

Going to be interesting in a year when probably 15% of Americans cannot qualify for unemployment because they don't have wages to qualify them.

I work for the DoL, this pumping up of unemployment will have terrible long term implications.

I sincerely am worried about the future of the country. I have kids and this racial strife and extremely loose fiscal policies makes me think we'll see blood in the streets during my lifetime. I hope I'm wrong.
