Everything is expensive now but good quality windows can help with your heating and AC costs.

You get what you pay for, but $3K a window is crazy. You can get a top of the line window for half of that price or lower.

Also, be sure you are using a company who primarily installs windows, not a company that does it all and gets a few window jobs a year. It takes skill and experience to do it 100% right and not lead to issues later on. Most showrooms will recommend an installer.

Don't do cheap windows. I hate passing by houses with ugly fogged and basic design Home Depot grade windows. Replace your windows once and only once with a quality product..

Must be from a corporate store.

I would check with a privately owned local company...or 3.

It’s not uncommon to get a quote for 10 window replacements for upwards of $30,000. What gives?

The average American is a moron that doesn't know how to shop around and refuses to do basic research. Ask AI for general ideas, ask 3-5 places for a bid, but ultimately go with your gut on the three lowest bids for the services you want.

Clown behavior gave way to clown times and pricing.

I think we are getting to an inflection point where the trades have gotten so outrageously expensive that homeowners should start learning how to do things themselves again. I’ve gotten quotes recently for painting, flooring, a bathroom remodel, landscaping, and electrical work that were eye popping. A little time on YouTube, reading, and practice and you can do most of it yourself.

No offense to any painters, landscapers, and floor installers but it’s usually not skilled labor…

You got the white people price. Move your house to a shittier neighborhood and get new quotes.

Not sure on the current how or why, but I have been hearing this since covid shutdowns and seems like one of the largely inflated housing products and labor (both manufacturing and repairing/upgrading) that just continued to inflate after shutdowns.

The wait times for a full window replacement for entire house got really long as well, but I haven’t had anyone that I know get new windows recently to find out what the current wait is.

I paid $8k in 2020 for 24 windows. I figured there was no reason to drop $30-50k for fancy windows when the house is a 1970s ranch-style house.

The double-paned, vinyl windows we got are great. Functional, easy to clean, cut our utility costs and have been worth every penny.

We originally had those aluminum windows that wouldn’t stay open and let’s cold and hot air in like crazy.

It’s all about what you are looking for in a replacement. If we had a 1940s house in a historic area of town, maybe we’d have considered a more expensive brand.

For what we needed, we chose affordability and function and have been very happy.

If you don’t mind, are you able to say through whom? TIA

About the same for me in 2019. Replaced almost every window for around $8k before selling my house. Window World.

Just had 10 windows replaced (glass only) for $2100. Don't know why you'd change the frames unless they were damaged.
