There’s a big gulf between having zero police and having a 964 million dollar budget for police

Lotta down voters admitting that they don’t know the difference between 0 and 964,000,000. Atleast you guys are honest

Houston voter speaking: I’m good with it. Better than some “Basketball Night @ Th3 P@rK” Program I suppose

LOL
Let me guess. You think throwing money at problems fixes them. That’s funny

Doesn't no funds = no police? Catch me up on the argument here.

Most arguing for defunding are not arguing for abolishment, just reallocation or lowering of funds in order to fix the obvious issues in the system.
Tell ya what.

Let's try this theory out on something less volatile. Let's Defund Education instead of cops.

We've been throwing money at the educational system for 40-50 years now with ever worsening returns on the investment.

Defund education.

IF that works THEN we can try it on safety and security, aka, police.

And yet you are celebrating a 964 million dollar police budget? I’m confused on where you stand

These MAGA morons have no clue what they believe in, so long as either Trump tells them to think it or it makes them feel like they’re “winning.” Just shy of 20 cents of every dollar of the entire budget going to the police force is absolutely absurd.

It’s like all the back the blue boys in SWLA. Lake Charles baws love to defend the police while paying over a 10% sales tax.

It’s nonsensical.

Not really celebrating the money. Just love that it will piss so many people off

Either way, it’s better than funding some bullshite social justice or community skuas fund. Community organizers and local politicians steal the hell out of that money

I bet you think the PD is nothing more than a few guys out writing tickets, don't you.

Kinda sounds like you’re celebrating

So you’d rather unquestionably give all the money as possible to the police, than have those resources available for other programs that the residents could vote on to improve their community? Things like public transportation, education, etc? Or hell just giving the money back to the tax payer?

Also not every state is Louisiana in terms of lining up politicians pockets. shite actually does get done in Texas when it’s ratified.

Honestly I do wish for major PDs, Dept Education, and a shite ton of other organizations within the government could trim some fat and reduce budgets.
But I also want a few billion or so back from perfectly healthy people getting benefits from the government in various ways

Even the ones arguing for restructuring want to take money from police and put it in social programs. And yet they want all police to have body cameras that are always running. And that cost $$$.

I'm sure you thought this was a "Gotcha!", didn't you? "Small government conservatives" refer to the federal government. What Houston citizens decide on the local level doesn't affect me or any other non-Houston resident. What an overreaching and unconstitutional federal government does affects us all.

Hate to ruin your moment. I'm sure you've been waiting with that "Gotcha!" in your back pocket just waiting to spring. Your eagerness outpaced your intellect.

This lame arse response is still circulating?

And you're gullible enough to think it didn't happen when there's tons of proof the influx of the hood rats from N.O. boosted Houston's crime rate to stupid levels.

Some of those "kids" were teens when they went there and are in their 30's now. You really think they changed their ways and are still not causing mayhem???

You're naïve if you do.

That would be called reduced funding. Words have meanings.

This is where blanket policies don't work in a huge diverse world.

Houston is a huge city not far from Mexico. They are up there with police killings, but I bet they deal with some shite. All these places have things in common, more people, more crime.
