My bro in law works for them. I saw the 65,000 dollar check he was presented at their banquet (so 35k was tax hit for him) He has a ton of big boy toys and stuff all paid off. Works 7&7 on a production site in the marsh.

Easy to do when you had to lay off a majority of your staff.

I already looked. No openings.
When they have them it's probably like Southwest Airlines--10 applicants for every opening.

Damn. My company went from 500 million to 2.2 billion in 5 years and we didn't even get an atta-boy.

are you suggesting this is what Hilcorp did? If so, you would be wrong.

This money may have moved you into a higher bracket and all your income will be taxed at that rate.
Janitors at Hilcorp have become Republicans overnight.

That they do. Building a brand new building in downtown right now.

Private company can shut down a location and be like "it's underperforming" with no duty to show financials and so on.
and why is this a bad thing?

Great news.
They frick the vendors by not paying their bills on time and renegotiate to bring bring prices down because they aren't making any money.
Seriously, WTF. As a vendor of theirs, I'm scratching my head to figure out why we were strong armed into lowering our rates earlier this year.

Companies that do this think they are being smart.
We'll make it up in other ways, we always have.
My best customers get my best rates, my marginal customers also get my "best" rates.

because every other company is renegotiating their rates, why Should one company have to pay even more just because they are doing better than others?
