Yes, speaking for myself.

I'm 100% in favor of vigilante justice. If I'm ever on a jury I'd vote 'not guilty' for anyone who took out a mugger, shoplifter or dope-peddler, regardless of how much immediate danger any of them posed. If I'm ever a witness to a such a vigilante action, I'd keep my mouth shut over what I saw, if I felt it might put the hero shooter in legal jeopardy.

Honestly, I don't give a damn about Ashli Babbett. She was breaking a door window, right? So, she was a vandal. Overall, I haven't gotten to the point of including vandalism as a crime worthy of execution, but give me time.

For all the heavy-handed prosecutions the 1/6 trespassers got, it's a real shame they didn't manage a more impressive accomplishment and hang at least a dozen or more congress-critters.

heart of my old sales territory

Used to call on a customer in that area as well. When I first moved to the Houston area. I'm used to NOLA and Baton Rouge when it comes to bad areas. Greenspoint near the interstate/beltway at least isn't all that terrible looking. It's not great, but it's not quite as ghetto looking as North Baton Rouge or NOLA East. I'd grab lunch at a subway or something and eat inside and not think anything of it. I knew it was far from a place you'd want to live, but didn't know just how dangerous it could be. Until that shooting happened then was filled in on just how bad it gets. From that point on, I didn't venture out past my customer's building. Luckily they all moved from that area.

The OT has lost the plot. Y’all really want the law to allow the summary execution of thieves leaving the scene of an armed robbery?

Considering the alternative in 2024, yes....absofkingtotalutely yes...

Local news is the same everywhere. And equally bad. They milked three minutes out of a four second clip. They will repeat it for a week.

bullshite. That reporter's reenactment was a work of art. He played the part of victim and assailant flawlessly. The coordination between him and cameraman as he simulated the pistol whip was Emmy worthy.

Just a hypothetical: I'm all for the results of the shooting, but what if the shooter missed and it hit someone else?

Know your target and what’s behind it. He would be responsible for any bullet that left his gun

a kid got shot over there a couple of years ago. I think from a stray. A few days later i am at long time customers location. I walk out of their office to see black guys running in every direction. Jumping in the bayou, jumping the fence. It was like someone did a huge magic trick and the whole hood saw it.

As I drove off I saw cops had blocked off every exit to one of the massive apartment complexes and they were kicking down doors. Figured it was a response to that shooting but who knows, could just be another day in gunpoint

This case took a bizarre turn.
It seems that the robbery was staged so the "victims" could get a U visa.

However, a series of messages later showed that Scott wasn’t even really robbing the couple — with his widow, Sade Beverly, telling cops it “was a set up” as part of an ongoing crime ring, the docs said.

His alleged accomplice, William Winfrey, 30, told Scott the fatal robbery would be the “usual gas pump s–t,” telling him to “make all that s–t look real,” according to the affidavit.

The shooter should have taken out the victim also.

Holy shite, they stage a fake robbery as part of a visa scam, the fake robber gets gunned down, and his accomplice arrested for running the scam all over town. And his thug buddy is dead.

quote:

In a police interview, one of the pretend victims “confirmed that the robbery was in fact a set-up, and the purpose of the scheme is to obtain a U-visa,” the affidavit said.

That refers to “U Nonimmigrant Status,” which is granted to victims of certain crimes who have suffered mental or physical abuse and are helpful to authorities investigating or prosecuting suspects.

Police then realized there was a “pattern” of similar reported robberies — and that the victims “had applied for, or been granted U-visas due to their status as victims of these crimes,” the affidavit said.
