I'm ok with it.

Now ban any foreign company or nation owning land in the US. Sneak in Bill Gates and Soros while they are at it.

They have their own version, but it is heavily regulated for those under 14, requiring child safe locks and only 40mins of screen time per day.

Their algorithm is also geared towards nationalism and education.

Guys using Tik Tok will inevitably be directed towards pornography, political dissent, and social commentary.

Absolutely stupid. You know who is pushing this? Zuckerberg. Why? No one under 30 uses Facebook. Instagram is hanging on because of celebrity involvement. 95% of Reels are pulled from TikTok and Snapchat. Threads was DOA and a waste of money.

All this is is one tech giant using campaign donations and fear mongering to have their competition taken out.

What exactly is so bad about tiktok? Other than the obvious dumbing down of people. Is there some sort of security risk or something?

Our govt wants us to think that.

It depends on what you “favorite”, save, and view. I get a lot of sports, food/cooking, and comedy content. 90% of my saved/favorites videos fit in one or more of those categories.

In so much as such a thing exists, so are meta platforms. So is the news and other forms of media.

YouTube shorts would take up the slack. The main thing with TikTok is China. But I feel like the damage is probably done, to be honest. This should have happened years ago.

Yep.

China uses it to “strengthen” their population.

I don’t favorite, save, or view any of that shite but it still infiltrates my FYP. Maybe it’s reading fitness accounts as being “pornographic,” but there’s no reason for me to get skank arse only fans girls. Given enough time, they show up anyway.

When technology starts revealing secrets that the government doesn’t want people talking about, they suppress it.

It’s happened on YouTube also depending on what the topics were about

I'm fine with this. They aren't banning content creation sites, nor are they unavoidably banning tiktok. They are just banning China from accessing US citizens.

It's surprising tiktok is allowed anywhere in the world given the global push for privacy protection laws and regulations.
