Maybe he should be used as an example, hence the sign.
Instead everyone is critiquing him instead of just reading the message.

Ah, so you subscribe to "the law is right and shouldn't be questioned"
Question tyranny instead of supoorting it blindly.
fricking socialist bullshite

Critiquing him is the example.
Fight instead of crossing your arms saying “my way or no” when you don’t hold all the cards.
This really sounds like extremely poor future proofing in his property.

Another person supporting government rights over individual rights.
I always think it is poliboard psyco-babble that people are being conditioned, but at least two are supoorting handing over your property because the government is saying that is what's best.
The public needs a round-a-bout in your driveway.
You are valuing the dollar amount like a whore. Not the actual value.

Again, I’ll say it slowly……….I…………never……………..said……………..I ……………..agree……………..with…………………..the………………..decision. In fact, the Kelo decision was horrible. But this was precedent way before Kelo.
That being said, to question the USSC, just study for the LSAT, do well, get accepted to law school, graduate, pass the bar, begin working in constitutional law and get hired by a firm that does USSC cases on takings. Maybe your arguments will change their mind when you get to argue in Washington. Or you could try to get elected to Congress to pass a bill to forbid such takings. Good luck!

Ok, why was the case brought to Washington?
Before then it was settled and had precident. Why would you question it?
Took someone with means to fight and overturn thar which you are holding so dear now. You said it perfectly. The hill to climb to defeat the developer dollar is too much. You support the whore and support taking private land...even though you act morally superior and oppose it.
Also, still yet to describe the actual public benefit of the roundabout.

Friend you need to put down the bong or whatever it is you are using. I’m not arguing with such unintelligible rantings as yours any longer. You should slow down and think before commenting on things, seriously.

Just so everyone can form an opinion, growing up in Zachary I can tell you that the area across the street from his house was woods with no plans of development. They didn't come up with Americana until roughly 2006. There wasn't any where near the development on the west side of Zachary in 2004 when he built. Sure he could’ve taken the deal but I've always respected the man for standing his ground on the situation. In a nutshell he got fricked and the majority of people in Zachary didn’t/don’t care. Im all for pay me what I want or frick off.

Put down the fake weed, sir.
If I'm going to get fricked, I'd like to be paid for it instead of the alternative. No one agrees with this even with the BS precedent.

He should open a really bright Vape Shop, that’ll show em

I think the only thing is that his driveway is pretty screwed up. But I’m not sure of the backstory. I hv seen the sign

I think the house was there way before any development

Enquist offered him way over market price for the house and a free house in Americana but the owner didn't accept.
Seems like every new bit of info has been countered, but if this is true he is a knucklehead at the very least.

Holding out in the middle of a development (or across the street from it in this case) is stupid unless you want to live in the middle or across the street from it.
Imminent Domain put a road through our family property. We didn't sell first but once everyone else started to we sold (above marketbut not triple) before they went a different route. (Our land was the largest/middle piece and the smaller/side pieces sold). Multiple family members owned homes and land all along the side of the new road now. They all sold because the property was not secluded and provate like it used to be. Yes you get fricked but who wants to live in the middle of a commercial corridor?

What was the public good?
It benefitted a private development.
This. How are a couple of shite hole restaurants deemed as public good? Does the traffic circle go equally into each side of the original road way or more on to his side?

It was a bad situation. He built the house around 2005 when there was nothing in the area. Enquist purchased the americana property not long after maybe 2009ish. DOTD wanted the round about to be located right ontop of his house but he wouldn't work with state. Then Enquist offered him a double cost price point. Ultimately the round about was offset to the south to miss his house because he wouldn't budge. Last minute before construction started I've heard Enquist offered him a house in the development...to no avail. He started blaming the City of Zachary and went on a personal vendetta against major and city council. Ultimately being served a restraining order. The sign was originally very personal and listed mayors name and city councilmen's names with warning. He ultimately removed that sign and installed the one that's up today. Its just a bad situation and I understand his frustration, but he could have taken the buyout or owned one of the houses in the development....which today would have been worth his original asking price of $600-750K. Just let the man live out his life. If you ever run into him definitely don't ask him about the sign....you'll lose 2 hours of your life.

Seems like at this point he could convert it to commercial and do ok.
Hard to feel sorry for him at all.

Typical Louisiana to have any vision whatsoever in planning with halfass developments
