Always wondered how legit those were.

Unfortunately for me, they're always tropical locations.

good one, but might be kinda hard to get the deals in a peak season like January

most of those deals are in during non peak months

very legit

I have a buddy that buys them all the time and they always have a blast. It's usually just a new hotel or resort trying to get new business.

I'm hoping to retire to the keys. It's pretty enough views for the wife to enjoy and an awesome variety of fishing. I think my wife would have killed me if it was our honeymoon though.

Ah, hadn't thought of that. We used ours the first week of October, which was pretty much the 2nd to last week of the window we were allowed to use it in, so that makes sense. I'd still recommend looking into it. I would also recommend not flying anywhere too far out of your time zone. That was critical for us. We wanted to spend more time goofing off and relaxing than we did on the plane. As far as I'm concerned, Costa Rica was pretty much perfect.

January is part of the peak season for Caribbean travel, so it's one of the more expensive months to go down there.

However, I think you can get something 4+ stars in Punta Cana, Riviera Maya, or Jamaica for around $2K.

I would recommend Apple Vacations, Bookit.com, CheapCaribbean, or All Inclusive Outlet if booking online. Other choice would be call a travel agent and let them find the best deal for you.

Went to Jamaica on my honeymoon and had an awesome time. Left the resort on multiple occasions and never felt unsafe.

Actually felt a lot more unsafe in Punta Cana than Jamaica.

Eh, I've never been so I'm just going off of what friends have told me. I'm sure there are safe places there. A buddy just went there like 3 weeks ago for his brother in law's wedding and said they were offered drugs within like 8 minutes of getting off the plane.

Next month, me and the wife are flying into Los Angeles renting a car there and exploring there, Las Vegas, and the Grand Canyon. Then flying back from Phoenix. Its only costing us $1800 not including food.

Depends on what kind of vacations you like. I can't book a hotel for a week and spend the whole time in there.

If/When I get married, I would like to do a cheaper honeymoon and put the rest into a downpayment.

Yea, have fun with that. Why even have a honeymoon? You could just have a bigger down payment.

I probably spent about 5-6k on mine. Sure, I could have saved 3-4k to put towards a down payment on house or appliances or whatever. But, in the grand scheme of things, 2-3k for a vacation that was something we will always look back on with great memories really isn't that big of a set back.

We will take dozens of vacations, but you only get one honeymoon...well 50% of us only get one honeymoon. Some of the lucky ones get several.

Vacations have a whole new meaning when the kids come along.

Check out cruises out of New Orleans. Dirt cheap that time of year. We did one this past January and weather was awesome in Cozumel.
