but this thread is specifically about going on a Caribbean trip for 2 for $2k

I don't think it was. I think it was if it was possible to have good trip. I think the answer is no.

whether or not I would do it for a honeymoon is kinda irrelevant

It is though. because he wants to know if a honeymoon can be done for $2k.

I'm keeping a trip to the Bahamas under 3k for 4 people.

If you come back and spent $750 per person after all said and done, you tried real hard to be cheap. Not that there's anything wrong with that .

And splitting homes in many Caribbean countries can significantly reduce your per person cost.

looking to spend less than 2k on a honeymoon?

it is in my eyes.

Wow the OT never ceases to amaze me. My honeymoon was less that 2k, and I had more money in the bank than 90+% of people my age at the time. Some people will never be able to afford to throw 2k at a vacation. Should they never get married? I call people who have effed up financial priorities financially unstable, and thinking you have to spend a certain amount on a glorified vacation is an effed up financial priority.

Now, I do have to admit, I personally wish that I would have just stayed home instead of going on the cruise that we did. We knew nothing about cruises and saw that they weren't expensive, so we did that . I will never go on another cruise in my life . I should have spent more money than we did, but I had the money to spend. If you don't, there's definitely options available for 2k that are acceptable and there's nothing wrong with that. Worst thing you can do is start your new life off in a hole, because you felt it necessary to spend a lot of money on a week long vacation. I've got friends who can't afford a down payment on a house, but spent 10k of their own money to go on a honeymoon.

My dad gave me 10k for my honeymoon, I did a cheap all inclusive for 3k and put the other 7k in the market right after my wedding when it was in the tank(2008ish).

6 years later that 7k is enough for the down payment on the vacation house we are getting.

Just something to think about when taking that expensive honeymoon

You could go to San Juan. Just looked up flights it would be able $850 for you and your SO to fly there from New Orleans. I've been there a couple of times and it is a beautiful place. Or look into going to St. Croix. It is a U.S. Virgin Island.

You can do the travel and accommodations for that price, but you have to factor in the total cost of the trip IMO.

It is pretty close to fact.

Yea, a shitty trip where you do nothing and eat crappy food. Not really honeymoon material in most people's eyes, including yours.

We'll not really. The place is 1200 and has a fully stocked bar at my disposal and fully stocked kitchen minus protein. Flights are less than 400. I'm there for 2800.

Yea, I could be cheap and go get chicken and beef to cook with everything else the entire trip but I won't. Point is it can be done.

Ignoring the other half of my statement?

I get where you're coming from, I really do. But you're really just arguing to argue at this point. You know everything I'm saying is not wrong.

Well, that's another $240 added to your total then. Are yall really just going to sit around and do nothing while you're down there?

Just what everyone wants to do on their honeymoon. Hope they catch fish, then have to clean and cook them themselves.

That's almost as bad as the road trip post.
