Honest Question: is the cost of living in Louisiana less than richer states?

Texas has a lower total cost of living.

New Orleans is lower than Houston or Dallas or Austin I believe.

for a state with low wages, Louisiana's cost of living doesn't really match up.

Texas has higher wages and a lower cost of living

Louisiana will always be my home state. Ill always have a sense of pride in LA.

I'm simply saying that we need to disregard the notion that things can't be better because our COL is cheaper.

This state has the resources and manpower to grow multiple cash crops (cannabis included) and we don't because we let politicians manipulate the populace.

If anything, I'm saying we have the potential to be so much more.

Yes for California and New York. Depending on where you live in Florida, roughly the same and I think higher than Texas at least if you compare the NOLA suburbs as well as places like Youngsville in Laffy to places in Houston and outside of Dallas

People in Louisiana love to bitch about their property taxes. I've lived in Texas as well as St.Louis, Memphis and now St. Tammany and I can say that comparatively, Louisiana's is much lower....and I get less local /municipal services for it as well.....although the schools in St. Tammany are quite good but overall, infrastructure here sucks, but then you get what you pay for

Companies, especially local ones love to say that the cost of living is lower....it's rally not when compared to places like Houston or Dallas or even Memphis or Nashville and dare I say the outer burbs of Atlanta. My wife keeps saying that the grocery bill in Louisiana is higher even at Wal Mart. Housing prices along the I-10/12 corridor are not all that cheap in comparison either.

Not really. What New Orleans has is tons of abandoned areas that can be reclaimed and rebuilt into whatever we want it to be. New Orleans East is larger than the rest of New Orleans combined, and most of it looks like a Scooby Doo ghost town.

Not at all. Have you seen rental prices and home prices in Baton Rouge and New Orleans? Way more than comparable southern cities similar in size.
