I don't think AgriBusiness is the path to prosperity for LA for multiple reasons. Can you imagine the private-public corruption-collusion that would ensue once LA "positioned" itself to support a cash crop renaissance?

Texas has higher property taxes but no income tax. Louisiana has both and a poorer quality of life.

I've been to Iowa and it seemed like a pretty nice place to me. Very flat and lots of straight lines, but pleasant. Not sure about wages there.

Still hard to find the general friendliness in other places relative to Louisiana, though I'm not sure that is as pronounced as it once was. At least that was my experience when I used to travel a bit more.

People harp on property tax particularly when bringing up states like Texas but leave out insurance. Car and home insurance are sky high in Louisiana. Insurance is a killer here.

It is a lot less than where I live in Maryland. Food prices, gas and basic restaurants may be close to the same but housing, education etc. are not. Not even close.
