Hollywood talent, really? Doesn't take much talent to redo previous hit movies and replace the main character with a black person. Most of the shite coming out of Hollywood today is just that, shite!

I’m as MAGA as anyone, but I’m not sure I can handle losing Damon Lindelof.

I don't think he should be fired for what he said, but it's not a free speech issue. Disney owns the platform and the American people own the airwaves used to broadcast the content. Use of them is a licensed privilege and Disney has no legal obligation to air his speech.

Kind of hard to have an honest debate of the issues when one or both sides start off full of shite.

I was opposed to it a week ago. I'm opposed to it now.

I am enjoying watching the left freak about it though. You can't treat people a certain way for so long and then never expect them to take control and use your own weapons against you.

Or Tucker Carlson, or Megyn Kelly.

Do you think they would come to the defense of Chris Pratt if he got canceled?

How did those cancellations make you feel?

It's weird that cancelling people, getting them fired, government censorship etc... wasn't a bad thing until about a week ago.

It's weirder how people's memories can be so insanely selective.

I didn't care about them, just as I don't care about Kimmel.

I do recognize the hypocrisy, though.

Tucker and Megyn both came out on top. Carano won her lawsuit

We will see with Kimmel. I can see him with a sad podcast.

Hopefully you recognize the hypocrisy from both sides of the always aggrieved.

a long history of hate mongering

I think the idea that we can have both a first amendment defense of speech and also outlaw hate speech is incorrect. We can have barriers against government interference in speech or we can have government regulations about whether speech is inappropriate or hateful. We can't have both at the same time.

We don't need it when our candidate is in power and we especially don't want it when the politicians we don't like are in power.

It also isn't illegal to hate politicians or other people. Nonviolent disagreement including hatred is a feature of democratic debate. You can't eliminate that in even the most authoritarian regime.

IMO hate speech being feasible and fairly enforced is just a utopian fantasy. I challenge anyone to have a meaningful disagreement with an intimate family member or partner without violating the boundaries of hate speech.

So the goal here is to force ABC to put him back on while affiliates refuse to broadcast him.

That's…. something.

For one, Kimmel did not get removed from the air because he told a joke. He got removed because he told a malicious lie related to a guy who was just murdered in cold blood and sponsors were feeling the heat from the public.

Also, Disney has already lost millions on Kimmel. How much more are they supposed to lose when providers pull out from the show?

Plus, he’s done a lot to be disagreeable for a long time.

Of the hills to die on - democrats boycotting a very left leaning company to put the blackface guy back on tv is high level 2025

Jimmy Kimmel himself celebrated the firings of Tucker and Megyn Kelly.

I don't recall any fascism concerns, or celebrity boycotts.

I recognized it as the workings of the free market, just as the Kimmel firing is. The hypocrisy lies within the reactions.

It doesn't matter what ABC does so long as the affiliates won't show Kimmel's program.
