What we're trying to do right now is bite a one month bullet to prevent aftershocks at least until we know we have effective treatment.
That was never the plan. No official has said this. There is no criteria from any leading scientist or politician for when we change our approach. You have been manipulated.

Yeah, so let's pack them into a confined space and get the virus spread appropriately! MAGA!!

You realize this is the opposite of what MAGA is saying, right?

The unchecked spread of Covid can turn a one month shutdown into 9 months to a year of a slow bleed.
That is the exact opposite of what happens.

We are doing the slow bleed approach.

It can be spread before symptoms are apparent. 25% of infected people do not experience symptoms, but likely spread it around. Waiting until you are sick is too late.

Make fried foods illegal. Will save 100,000 lives. Alcohol too. Cigarettes and cigars. Personal vehicles. Force people to go to the doc twice a year. And they must vaccine. Stop abortions.

No, I'm currently working from home, in a job that I have zero chance of losing. I consider myself very, very fortunate.

But unlike you, I'm thinking of the majority of the people out there who aren't as fortunate as me.

That's the difference between you and I.

That will be true for as long as it exists and is true for just about any contracted disease that has ever existed. Congrats on knowing how a virus works.

The entire youth of America is home without school or education.

Arts and crafts is absolutely essential

My employment, like most others, won't last with this being dragged on for months & months. The quicker this is over, the quicker everyone can go back to normal. That won't happen so long as people take a lackadaisical approach to it.

That's the situation we're in.

A one off freedom fighter (even if it's kind of silly) is fine and admirable in some ways. However, a number of them that spike transmission and put us in a really bad spot only prolongs this shite for everyone else.

I'm not opposed to this.

Alcohol too
Probably wouldn't be a bad idea either.

Cigarettes and cigars
Definitely a good idea.

Personal vehicles
If there is a reasonable alternative, such as automated transportation, yeah that's not a bad idea either.

Force people to go to the doc twice a yea
Probably should be more, honestly

Yep

Stop abortions.
Eh, maybe

Give conspiracy theories a rest.

There is no "criteria" because it is an evolving situation. We don't know how effectively we'll stop the spread. We don't know the economic impact.

If you don't think the quarantine idea is to take immediate, strong action to prevent a worse outcome over a prolonged period, what do you think the idea is?

You are doing the same thing by your actions encouraging the spread of a virus that is killing people.

The virus is still going to be out there when we emerge from our self-imposed house arrests whenever we "flatten the curve." And if it comes back in the fall when we still don't have a vaccine, are we to repeat this song and dance once more?

So now that I’ve got you agreeing to my communist terms, do you also understand that quarantines slow this process? I notice you didn’t acknowledge that post of mine. Scruffy mentioned it too. We aren’t trying to deal with this quickly. That was never the goal. You’ll never see a scientist or politician claim this is going to be over faster with what we are doing. Their singular goal from the start has been protecting the hospitals. That results in a LONGER quarantine period.

This is dangerous thought and I am perfectly okay with people like you being shot.

If you are going about like nothing is happening, you are an a-hole. We all have to make trips to the store. Buy a little more and limit the amount of times you visit. The quickest way to eradicate this thing is to lay low. Jesus this board is stupid

This can't be done at every other store as well

Lolz. The cost of freedom is certainly high.

You have to survive amongst ignoramuses like those upvoting this thread.

Grocery stores are an exception bc you have to eat to survive (although more than half of Americans could probably stand to miss a month's worth of meals). The risk of still being infected there is known and a calculated one and not something suddenly discovered by a random thread-starting Bama fan .

If every store does it, that's too many exceptions to make a difference with regard to social distancing. We may as well have no restrictions, and the virus will, according to the data we have, overwhelm hospitals and lead to far more casualties and probably a negligible difference in economic circumstance.

And this is why you can't find any paper or sanitation products in most grocery stores.

Because everyone "bought a little more"
