Saw a post on Nextdoor the other day where a woman was bitching because she is allergic to dogs and asked people not to walk their dogs directly in front of her house "out of respect" for her disability.

I was on out neighborhood fb page for about a month. Left that shite because of all the incessant bitching.

Been on our HOA Architectural Committee for 8 years now, and thankfully it’s a small, reasonable group on the committee, because the petty complaints go in one ear and out the other. These communities probably all have a few habitual complainers, but most of our neighborhood is pretty laid back. Some HOA By-Laws can be a bit overreaching to me though. Moving back to the country life later this year, but without next door neighbors.

Hoa areas are ok and in general rules are for the benefit of all in the long run and twenty years from now your resale value will benefit
If your personality is not inclined to others involved in your property buy some acreage.
Both good
But do not get on hoa social media. I have and the experience was just as you said. Jumped off real fast and never look at it again.
Nothing but people complaining and being petty . You will be happier just living there and not being sucked into their smallness
Do not get on the board either it just gets worse

Oh and how can I forget about the lost pets. How the hell can so many people always be missing their cats and dogs? That’s at least half the post.
Every other post is about their missing dog or someone that has found a dog. Apparently the people around here have never heard of a dog collar and dog tags. fricking morons.

I'm probably being bitched at on my HOA FB page right now. One of my dumb arse dogs has made it his personal vendetta to escape the yard. The fenced in yard. Into...yep another fenced in yard. He just goes and hangs out in other yards.
The back and one side of my fence was preexisting chain link through the woods. Apparently, they didn't opt for the tension wire at the bottom so you can just push right on through.
Getting a tension wire today and installing it.

I don't call my dog a "fur baby" but she HATES fireworks and it makes those holidays pretty miserable to see her freaking out, so I understand it somewhat. Some dogs also freak out and will run away to try and get away from the sounds.
My Dog is Scooby fricking Doo. I wrap her up in a Thundershirt and give her a hotdog laced with benedryl. Problem solved!

I stumbled upon the Clay/Lacy shitshow on here. Would have made for an awesome thread on the OT...
There’s a Facebook Group to chronicle the trashiness

Lot of passive aggressive bitching on my NextDoor app. Not much of it is HOA related, just a lot of veiled racism, worrying about coyotes, and shaming teenage drivers.
Mine usually consists of someone's dog got loose (again). Someone seen checking parked cars for unlocked doors.
Unkempt house (usually a rental with the actual owners living outside EBR and hasn't been rented out in a while).
Traffic.
And then there's this chick ringing someone's Ring at 2am one morning.

You live in my neighborhood.

Moved from house with land to a neighborhood with a strict HOA

I'd say the biggest con is the HOA stuff. I honestly thought i would like it so it would keep the neighborhood from going down the crapper, but i didn't account for the added extra drama
Those types know the lay of the land and the rep of every HOA.
Next time, lean on your realtor to ensure you're getting in with a good HOA, and not the type you are stuck with.

Go on the FB page and offer free massages to any willing ladies in the neighborhood. Tell them to private message replies, wait a few days, then go back on the neighborhood FB page and say that due to high demand you don't have enough time in the day to offer your services to so many willing ladies. That'll start some shite right there.

I like our HOA facebook page. There's a little bit of pettiness, but for the most part it's proven to be a good place to update neighbors on "ongoings" or hash things out without having to step out of your house.

just a lot of veiled racism,
I've noticed more of the opposite. i.e. someone posts video of a black person pulling on car door handles in their driveway and you have a long line of apologists making excuses for the person/saying not to call the police, etc.
its weird how many bleeding hearts there are out there that make excuses for people clearly committing crimes
