Several well known people in the area lived in Gardere in the 80's while attending LSU. Franklin Foil was one.

The out of town travel ball parents have no idea what is just beyond the fence at the Traction baseball fields.

The worst blight on any urban area is section 8. I lived off of Gardere from 84-87. It was all LSU students and young working adults. I moved out just before things got bad.

Tigerland was a cool, safe place to live when I was at LSU, about the worst thing that happened there was the night Rusty Domingue knifed a dude in a road rage incident

The best soccer matches in Baton Rouge happen at that park on the corner of Gardere and GSRI. Not at the Burbank soccer complex.

BR doesn't have that street. It's unincorporated just like St George used to be before the Lord answered our prayers.

The residents there didn't want to be a part of the new city so their wish was granted. Somehow the organizers are racist for allowing these people the opportunity not to participate

The sewer treatment plant stunk up the area and prop value plummeted. I know several high profile people in Baton Rouge who lived there in the 80s.

It was full on in the early 90s. Me and a buddy of mine responded to paper ads for appts to rent in that area during our 2nd year @ LSU. The rent was extremely affordable, big rooms and close to campus so we couldn't pass it up and decided to make an appointment with the landlord. As soon as we pulled in we saw multiple cars with tires missing and burning trash cans. Immediately turned around.
