Halsey seems like a good candidate here.

MacArthur and it's not close. Lost the Phillipines, nearly lost Korea, fired for insubordination.

Ernest King never actually commanded a ship or fleet during war I don’t think.

That’s all I got.

This is my choice also.

If he hadnt split the troops up so much or advanced to the Chinese border then the Korean peninsula might look very different today.

I didn’t realize that Patton wasn’t on the highest ranking general list.

He was an arse and he was insubordinate but damn if he couldn’t get an army into action and win the battles. He was a good tactician too.

MacArthur was a mama’s boy. She was the military genius.

He also had a plan to drop atomic bombs on 50 Chinese targets...considering circumstances today, it might not have been a bad idea after all.

My vote is MacArthur. He repeatedly promised that reinforcements would come to the aid of his men on Bataan when he knew good and well that wasn’t going to happen. He couldn’t even be straight forward to his men. What a jerk!

Then he advocated for the invasion of Peleliu to guard his flank for the coming invasion of the Philippines. You see, Peleliu had an airfield and he wanted that taken out. Anyway, the costly, bloody invasion didn’t even need to take place because the armed forces had air and naval superiority. They could’ve bypassed the island and starved the Japs like they had done with other meaningless islands.

MacArthur's biggest sins were

1 letting his air force get destroyed on the ground despite having advance warning of an imminent attack; a blunder that would be repeated in Korea when he ignored intelligence reports of Chinese troops massing along the border

2 neglecting to move supplies into the Bataan peninsula in a timely manner

3 failing to split his command when he evacuated. After Bataan fell, Mindanao was still combat effective but being in Wainwright's chain of command, had to surrender when he did. With an independent command, they could have resisted several more months
