Omar Bradley is an underrated General. His name doesn’t get mentioned like it should, despite being a 5-Star General/General of the Army.

Mac Deserted his men. He was given a CMH for that basically to improve morale. He also left his men with no supplies. In other words he deserted his men.

His reputation benefited from Karl Malden's portrayal of him as Patton's genial counterbalance in the movie. IRL he was a bit of a prima donna himself.

Absolutely MacArthur.

The number of lives wasted for his campaign to satisfy his ego instead of bypassing most of that death following the Navy's plan really cements his place on the mountain of shite.

Macarthur was kind of a putz. In his Wikipedia picture he's standing at parade rest with a pipe clenched in his teeth. He's basically vaping in formation.

I didn’t realize that Patton wasn’t on the highest ranking general list.

He was an arse and he was insubordinate but damn if he couldn’t get an army into action and win the battles. He was a good tactician too.

His insubordination is likely what kept him off this list. I do wonder what would have happened in Korea if MacArthur and Patton were both in Korea. For one I think Chosin has a much different outcome with Patton really pushing for a better protected line. Also his reputation may have been enough to keep the Chinese (albeit heavily fortified) on their side of the Yalu. The world would be a very different place if Korea is united and in a position to affect a slightly different course in Vietnam.

Mac Arthur for sure. I always wonder had we pulled up far enough north of Seoul to keep it well out of artillery range and dug in after driving the NORKS back would the Chinese ever have come into the Korean War to start with.

Bradley wasn't on my list of favorites either.

MacArthur should have ended the war with less stars than he had when it started.

Any dude that has Karl ‘buttnose’ Malden playing him in a movie is kinda suspect, IMO...

Many don’t realize but Bradley didn’t get his 5th star until 1950.
His greatest accomplishment during WWII was probably his skills managing Eisenhower and Patton. In order to win the war, we needed both of them but it was a battle of egos within the ranks.

He also holds the distinction of being on active duty longer than anyone else; 69 yrs. And yes I know 5 star guys never retire.
