most of them would have been just as bad as their counterparts - the whole primary system ensures that we won't ever have a good president, just some that are a little less shitty than others

Would have said Romney 5 years ago and would have been wrong. Better than Obama though.

Both Hillary and Romney were terrible campaigners but would have been extremely competent presidents. I didn’t vote for either FWIWI

I don’t like LBJ but I’m not so sure Goldwater would be a good president either. We had a long period of total shite in Washington between the Kennedy and Reagan administrations.

Also, had Al Gore been elected after Clinton we probably wouldn’t be in half the deficit mess we’re currently in. Clinton balanced the budget and we were rapidly on track to eliminating our national debt. Then Bush came along and for the first time in our history cut taxes and funded a major war at the same time. Those two actions made us jump the shark on our debt and no one has looked back since.

But apparently no one on either side cares anymore about the debt.

Yeah, it’s all the same shite. The DC Uniparty/Swamp will ensure we always get mediocre candidates. Anyone with new ideas or serious changes can only run third party and third parties get zero attention in America.

Keep in mind that most of America was GOP-conservative thinking registered Democrats for decades.

Maybe Barry Goldwater and Adlai Stevenson, and just maybe Al Gore.

Overall, America has pretty much gotten it right. Most of the time.

Hubert Humphrey was the wrong man at the wrong time. Too liberal for America at the time but a good politician.

Well, did Clinton have a couple of airplanes dive into the WTC?

Would have loved to see Bush in a timeline where 9/11 never happened.
