I do not recall this, but it sounds hilarious.

Is he a big time Democrat donor? If so, he'll be fine. I'm not kidding here.

He doesn't know. He needs someone to tell him about it and whether he should be outraged first.

People's insane emotional response to a story that has nothing to do with anything important is what's bothering me.

Animal conservation is important to a lot of people.

I don't even know why Cecil is important

You know how certain animals are popular at zoos because they always are on show for the guests that come through? Imagine the same thing with this lion. From what I've heard, for the guests doing safaris, he would be regularly spotted and therefore gained a lot of attention. I'm assuming he drew a lot of people to the safari, and in turn became very very popular

Just because people watch an ASPCA commercial with Sarah Mclachlan singing a sad song does not make them an animal conservationist. Most people just want that warm and fuzzy feeling like they've done something when in reality they haven't done shite.

He's actually a Mitt Romney supporter.

And this has very little to do with animal conservation.

Where was the outrage when poachers were decimating animal populations in Africa at rates likely 10x higher than big game hunting?

Oh, there isn't any outrage over the stuff that actually matters.

It's ok. Rage on, brother.

Rage on.

Now troves of Internet tough guys and sissy babies are upset over a lion they've never heard of, would've never heard of, and didn't give a single frick about until the media identified Walter Palmer.

This is dumb logic.

$55k for some a-hole to kill him vs millions he brought in from tourists.

The most bizarre thing in all of this are the posters going "You can't talk about the lion, because you're not doing anything for animal conservation!!!!"

I'm not illegally killing famous lions in Africa, so that's a start.

Perfectly said. I would be outraged if this was my cat, but I just don't have enough give a shite to worry about a cat I've never seen or heard of.

I guess I need to get my personal life in order, so I have time for something like this to outrage me.

Not really. Lions are an endangered species. Killing the pack leaders ultimately dooms more of the animal.

So because there haven't been threads on it on TD, there haven't been efforts against poaching? I've seen quite a bit of outrage against poaching over the years, particularly with the black rhino, both online and in person. It's not hard to find. If the media isn't covering it, it doesn't mean it's not out there.
